It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I'm confused, I thought the clues were released on Monday not Sunday. Today is Sunday but it's Mother's day so I have pressies to open, flowers to admire and some naughty chocolate to eat. That's all before breakfast. I'm going to see my Mum this morning and my girls are coming over this afternoon. We're going to have a girly time watching movies! Busy day.

I love your avatar leith :) - Yes it's just Sunday here so I'm off to bed. Enjoy your day

Um, how did our latest quiz take 2 days? I wrote and submitted it in only a few hours. It had 1 rejection but I didn't think that time counted? Maybe you are taking the time from the second time I submitted (which WAS about 2 days)?

No worries Wesley. It was the two columns that are essentially the same that were throwing me (and my thick head) off lol. I'll build a spreadsheet with a running total for myself. One question - any penalties are applied at the very end of the race, correct?

You're right-- my bad. Took your resubmit time.

Jakeroo - penalties will be counted in as they occur. Once a player or team goes beyond 3 rejects, you'll see them in the calculations.

The bolded column in the spreadsheet is at all times the actual and effective total time to date taken by a racer.

lones78 - fixed to 1 hour and 44. New spreadsheet is up.

    Great spreadsheet :)

You should see my spreadsheet. I can't understand it.

Do the rejects count if the quiz ends up not being the one that counts for the tally? If so, then it is actually a double whammy for the teams made up of more than one player...

I guess the Mothers' Day holiday has gummed up the queues... Mine's been in for 3 1/2 days so far. I guess I'll press the clue soon and get started on the next one, despite the fact that the other is still processing.

Can someone help? I was under the impression that we didn't have to have our quizzes for the last clue online to continue with the next clue. I opened Wes' and followed the instructions with what I think is a great quiz, if I do say so myself, but have been unable to submit it because the other quiz is still in queue... This is exactly what I was asking about when I asked if we had to wait or not. Argh!

The worst thing is that it is Mother's Day, and my family is annoyed that I am on teh PC doing quiz stuff instead of letting myself be celebrated...

    Aww nooo Sue :-(
Some people can submit more than one at once, but it's "one of those FT things" and there's no strict formula for who or when or anything.
I clicked Wes' thread by accident yesterday and am just going to write Kyle's quiz, (whatever it may be GULP!) so that I don't have a time of days - maybe you could do the same? Wait until your one currently in the queues goes online, then click Kyle's thread to start that timer, and write that one... That's all I can think of that might help :-(
