It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

Mariamir Did you update leg 4, Wes? Because I'm pretty sure my time was faster than 2:33.

Mariamir, I didn't get anything from Kyle with regards to a second quiz from your pair.

I guess i must have far too many slow twitch muscle fibers to be an effective sprinter :) I just completed leg 6 but it is in the sports category so it might be stuck in the queue for a while. I also wrote my first quiz with 25 questions. I guess i am just determined to finish dead last in the sprint :)

don't sweat it coach ... I'm still looking at it as a stroll right now .... then again ... with looney's 26 minutes ... I reckon I'm down to a dwardle now

I must admit to some serendipity on last week's quiz. Because I couldn't write it for several days, I saw three others come online, and had a pretty good idea what the requirement was going to be. I was even able to mull over possible titles and approaches in my head, saving probably about an hour of time. Then I chose to do FITB, with the same hint for every question (type it once, copy it to all the other hint boxes) - that meant no time spent coming up with viable MC options, and typing them in. Since the topic was familiar phrases, it wasn't very time consuming to write up the extra information - no lengthy research required. I will never again write a quiz that quickly!

This week, when I click the link in a few minutes, I expect to be back to my usual 2-3 hours for a focused quiz write.

Mariamir My K zeugma quiz has been submitted. It's a Brain Teaser, my first, so I'm nervous. I clicked K before the next clues came out. For obvious reasons, I can't say this in the K thread, so is my title okay, Kyle?

You'd make an excellent army officer, Looney Tunes! Foresight and planning, so the attack, when it happens, will be swift, brutal and decisive.

(I've just been reading up on Stonewall Jackson)

Just submitted on behalf of mlcmlc and I. The time would have to be a personal best for me I think.

Coachpauly, you have to go much more slowly if you want to ride the 'autobus' with eburge and I! (the autobus or 'gruppetto' is the group of riders in the Tour de France - or Giro d'Italia - that aren't going to win the race but persevere with slower times determined to reach the end) :-)

I am taking the slow boat to China. It is less strenuous than following a group of riders in the Tour de France :)

I took the slowboat to China and ended up in Hong Kong. Incidentally, my slow quiz times are a severe blow to my ego. :) I am the National track coach in HK and my mens 4x100m team is currently ranked 3rd in the world behind Jamaica and USA in 2012. So you see i am very not used to doing anything slow *grins* Thanks for the moral support everyone.

I've been having internet problems - slow connection, losing connection altogether - so will not be starting this leg until this is sorted out. 'They' are supposedly coming tomorrow morning, so I may be able to get going then.

Mariamir, I know you had a second one done, but Kyle will have to verify it (he's the one to check compliance with clues according to our workshare on this game) so I can't score it until I have his report (which I have just asked him for :) )

Mariamir-- your title is fine, but your score won't be logged in until it's online.

Kyle darling - on the Synopsis thread, you have the link next to my name leading to the Julius Ceasar quiz rather than my quiz :-D Mine is the Patrick Tilley "Amtrak Wars" one.
