It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Hmmm if that's true I will have to postpone my nightly date with "Kingdoms of Amalur" until tomorrow because I won't be able to resist the temptation to check the clues!

Just because of the page break, I'll be repeating it:

NEW CLUE IN ONE HOUR. 6 PM FT TIME ON JUNE 4.

    You have been warned.

    Good game, Tiffany. :)

I have to put off the Sony keynote on the E3 feeds. Ah well.

I'm here now because we let the children stay up late to watch Her Majesty's Jubilee Concert live from the Mall - clue 7 is out at 1am my time, and tomorrow I have a LOAD to do, packing and shopping and such. If I get chance I'll do it, but if not it will still be Saturday before I can start, we're leaving Wednesday morning :-S We'll have to see how it goes tomorrow. Hopefully everything will get done and I'll squeeze it in somehow - better that than taking a hit of a couple of hours on 8 if it's released before I write 7 - that would be peeving!

Lee, they have around 14-16 ratings, but still haven't hit that elusive 20.

Sorry, should have been more clear.

Kyle and Wes. You anger me. ;)

Actually, I don't know what numbers I was looking at, but all of my Sprint quizzes have 20 ratings, including my Food & Drink quiz which went on yesterday that is already at 70 ratings.

Only one of my quizzes doesn't have 20 ratings.

"a slow trot to the fridge" - Creedy, you're hilarious!

George: I promise to play your quizzes eventually (but if you only knew how many dang-ed dandelions I have to pull.. sigh)

To the Evil Twins: what do you mean, we're breezing along too quickly?? I blame the ridiculously over-competent and over-zealous editors who are getting them online so fast. Don't they have LIVES?? I am hereby lodging a formal protest and sending 'round some health officials to make sure they're all of sound mind and abiding by OH&S guidelines.

(there, I bet you never thought you'd hear a complaint like THAT - gigggles).

triviaking162 Since the clues are coming fast and furious, can we expect a standings update really fast? :)

Here's my quiz for the 6th task.

    http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/General/How-Names-Have-Changed-Popular-50s-US-Baby-Names-350161.html

Got the fifth started, but it will take a bit to write as it is not a cookie-cutter quiz!

I am worried about something though. I had the thread for Wesley's task open on my desktop (with five other windows), and had to reboot and reset my internet connection. I didn't think about it and I am wondering if that registered as if I had clicked on his thread anew? I haven't looked at it and I closed that tab as soon as I saw the warning to sprinters. You guys are mean. Can one of you tell me (and Mariamir, by extension) if Wesley's clue has already been clicked by shuehorn and at what time? That will certainly change my plans for tonight if so.

    Help!

    Confused Sprinter (aka shuehorn)

Mariamir Uh, oh. Does it count?

Waiting on the answer to that one, Mariamir. If so, and if you clicked Kyle's then we boh might be working on Task 7 before the ones we've got behind them. :)

It seems to have-- but we can waive it provided it's all in honesty and you haven't read it. I'll make a little note.

    Thanks, Kyle, I really haven't! Whew! I really can't afford an all-nighter tonight. :)

    Kyle and Wes,

Even though I had to drop out, is it okay if I click on your postings - both of yours? I won't be writing a quiz on what they say, I'm just curious about what they say. (I have enough quizzes started already, unfortunately, and another Author's Challenge half-way finished.)

triviaking162 Any standings? I'm curious about my time.

Mariamir Just for the record, shue and I are going to switch. She will do Kyle's clue, and I'll do Wes'.

Well that was a shock to the system first thing in the morning. Luckily, I saw the warning and read this thread first, or it could have been panic stations. I'm too old for this speed game, guys.
