It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

You wouldn't think that the Two Wizards of FT are planning something like the Amazing Quiz Race using the quizzes written for the Sprint, would you???? Something along the lines of the Amazing Quiz Sprint?

There certainly are a great deal of very good quizzes that have been written...and maybe the fish will be a badgelet there, too, for those who didn't get it before?

    Curious minds are wondering...

Just about to click on the hint thread, and learn what dire fate lies ahead. Saturday afternoon is quiz-writing time! (And, since this is a long weekend, I will get at least one more this week.)

The luxury of a three-day weekend (thanks to QEII for having an arbitrarily-celebrated birthday down here) means that I have completed one clue, but will see if I can do the other one more rapidly tomorrow. Fancy having two days in a row to in which I can allocate a significant chunk of time to quiz-writing!

triviaking162 Are #6 and #7 going to be combined into a big standings? Or are the #6 standings coming soon?

The standings for task 6 have been sent to Wes; it's up to him.

As an avowed republican, I still thank Queen Elizabeth II for this long weekend in Australia, that has allowed me to finally submit my TV-based quiz for Sprint 7!

It's Prince Philip's real birthday today as well, Mike, I think.

I don't see the need to break with tradition, without a particularly good reason for doing so. You'd want Julia Gillard as a the first President of an Australian Republic??

Besides, there's the Comonwealth Games you know :)

This is probably (definitely!) not the forum to debate whether Australia should be a republic, but you make an excellent point about the Commonwealth Games, Creedy! Too much sport of this kind is never enough...

The 6th round raw scores have been released at http://www.krath.org/sprint-06.png

I still don't have the official finals of the 5th, so no update there yet.

Mariamir/shuehorn: You will be taking a 7 day score either way for round 5, but if either of you will still do my 5th round task, you may save yourselves some Rvsn points - Mariamir's is currently sitting at 2 Rvsn and submitted for the 3rd time.

    No changes on the leaderboard:

    Normal Single: Rowena8482 with 8h 36m
HC Single: WesleyCrusher with 9h 22m
    Normal Pairs: Lones95/zorba_scank with 12h 50m

Fastest Lap: looney_tunes #5 at 0h 26m. Best time this round goes to rossian at 42 mins.

Thanks for the advice, Wes. I have a task five quiz started. I will finish it tonight. :)

Wes, weren't the time bonuses for those who missed them first time round supposed to be allocated on leg 6? Mine doesn't seem to be there, and I think Rowena and Creedy both missed out first time round as well, and it doesn't look like theirs are there either (there were others as well but I can't remember them)

I was also expecting my 30 minute bonus this round, since I used a Challenge title, and hadn't been told about the first opportunity until after I had submitted my quiz.

Wow! Wes has must taken nearly 20 years off my life. I'm now Lones95 instead of Lones78 :)
Not sure whether I'm old enough yet Wes to thank you for that!

I can't tell if my bonus time was accounted for or not. :-P only 30 minutes though... Not a big deal considering I'm 5 days behind. Lol

Just curious Wes, I timed myself from click to submit and got around 4 and half hours. How did we get 16 hrs? Did we click without realising?

I didn't get anything from Kyle on who should receive the challenge bonuses - sorry, guys.

As to leith - I have you (yourself, not mlc) as clicked on June 1, 20:17 which would make 16 hours.
