It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Salami, I do not think you can have any valid guesses at the round 12 task. At least mine is not anything that can be concluded from anything in the prior eleven - it's very special :)

Our Task 8 quiz is online: Only Forever, in Movies, for Kyle's http://www.funtrivia.com/quizlist2.cfm?myquizzes=1

I'm not using any of the previous 11 to base my guess on, Wes. It is a completely new and fresh idea that I just believe would be a good 12th task, since I know they are getting more difficult as we go. ;)

That link isn't working for me Sue, so here it is again:

My 12th is, in theory, a difficult one. Beware!

Yes, I assume both tasks for 12 will be fiendishly difficult.

And, I had another thought about the 12th task, come to think of it.... Since it will fall in July, I wonder if one of the tasks will involve choosing a title from a fiendishly difficult challenge Kyle will create.... Since we'll have plenty of challenges during the month, we won't run out of titles. ;)

I'm trying NOT to think about task 12 just yet. Let's get the others out of the way first!

ditto .... it's one step at a time here. I haven't looked at the current task yet, have no idea what it is and I'm not even trying to anticipate what it may be

Same here. And lets try not to give those two any ideas that might make it worse than it was already going to be!

    Thanks, Rossian. You're a lifesaver!

I did several updates to the latest score file:

Fixed shuehorn R7 and Rev count
    Fixed rossian R8 time

Triviaking - your score is correct. Kyle has grabbed your quiz from the queue - if you get any Rvsn later, we'll add those in on a score fix.

triviaking162 What does that mean, Kyle grabbed it from the queue? Does that mean I can start my #9 quiz?

The link for Round 7 results still shows us as of R6... Is the wrong file linked, Wes, or are your updates elsewhere... :)

I scrolled up the the provisional round 8 link, and found all of the updated info there. Thanks, Wes, sorry for not digging enough before asking for help.

Thanks Wes. That looks a lot better.

Yeah, I didn't backwards-update 7 (they're all Excel screenshots and making a backwards file is quite a bit of work, so I'll only do those once more when I can really be sure of them being final, with all Rvsn and everything.

With "Kyle grabbed it from the queue" I meant that he took your time while the quiz was waiting. This has nothing to do with the normal submission rules - you still need to wait for it to go online before sending in the next one.

Haven't accessed our clue yet this week ... am having issues with the computer and, until it's sorted have not been keen to start. The added complication is that Taz has taken a holiday ... hopefully we're on track by the weekend

What's everyone talking about - what round 12?

I hope I haven't missed a few. It wouldn't be unusual if so.
