It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I'm aware of the differentiation Creedy, but when I went through my education degree, it wasn't used "in the vernacular". Over here, if you say that word (quickly or otherwise), people usually think you're talking about some sort of dessert ~

I usually refrain from telling them they have the wrong word, simply because it's more amusing for everyone that way. And (shrugs) nobody really likes a pedantic showoff in social situations anyway lol.

Hehehe! That tongue twister should come with a health warning for anyone wearing false teeth. Duck, or else you may get hit by a projectile object, lol!

Well you just never know in Australia, Jakeroo. Here your name has a different meaning entirely as well, pedantic showoff or not.

    Creedy

    Phonetically speaking, that is.

Quite right Creedy. A jake can be a term for an "outhouse" (rustic toilet lol). And a jackaroo/jackeroo here would be called a greenhorn/tenderfoot or a lazy so-and-so or a screwup or something else that can't be mentioned here LOL. But jake and "jack" don't really sound the same. Besides, I was calling me pedantic in the hypothetical situation above, not you : )))

Anyway, Happy Canada Day to all my "neighbours". Looking forward to the next Sprint task.

Jakeroo: "Looking forward to the next Sprint task."

You and me both! I feel we're entering the final stretch... Let's hope they are not TOO horrible. :)

Round 9 provisional standings are up at http://www.krath.org/sprint-09.png and some sprinters' games have been vastly affected by minor disasters.

Kyle's clue has sent several authors for a second round and thus various delays due to a misreading (Christinap and WesleyCrusher both jumping from well under a day to 4 days 7 hours and 2 days 10 hours respectively) and the 4-day limit has also struck twice (highlighted in red), although MikeMaster hasn't lost much as he was already over 6 days, but George's score took a pretty heavy hit.

    The race leaders:

rossian leads Single Normal at 19 hours 0 minutes.
Malik24 leads Single Hardcore at 20 hours 20 minutes.
Lones78 and zorba_scank lead Pair Normal at 16 hours 17 minutes.

Three sprinters are still on zero Rvsn: looney_tunes, MikeMaster99 and Tiffanyram.

Firefox won't open the page, so I will look at it later on my iPad, which I know does recognize Krath.

I'm curious as to my standing...

In my mind, I'm still beating Rossian for best score. :P

    Forgot to mention....

Congrats to the three with no corrections thus far! Keep it up. :)

Ours has been resubmitted, and I think it will fly well now. Fingers crossed!

Your mind is a strange place, Salami! I can't open the table either (nor the earlier ones) so assume the problem is with krath.

I was able to access it from my iPhone. I didn't try on the computer.

krath.org is my own server here in Germany - it may occasionally be that you can't access it (although I had no problems accessing the net today)
