Subject: How did you choose your FT User ID?

Some of the nicknames here are so inventive. Just curious how we pick our names.

I'm the youngest of seven children and always seemed to be behind the rest. My father would say, "And here comes Tori Too-z".

How did you pick yours? :)

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

satguru

I have been studying meditation for some time, and the theory is that whoever teaches you (the guru) is only pointing you to your inner teacher, the true teacher, which is the satguru. I chose it as that is what we all have and what I was looking for through meditation. It has a few similar meanings though so have been mistaken for a Hindu high priest which certainly wasn't intended as a diversion...

Mommakat

I chose mine from the fact that that is just what I am, the Mother Cat to a family of rescued felines.

Greatguggly I was listening to a Frank Zappa song called "Nanook Rubs It/Don't Eat Yellow Snow". Somewhere in the middle he yells.."Greatgugglymuggly". It stuck.

My user ID is a family saying that expresses frustration, surprise, anger, amazement etc. I assume that it replaced the *f word* as far as my parents were concerned! When I joined FT I tried lots of combinations of my own name but none were accepted. After shouting "Blood and sand" at the computer screen, I thought I might as well stick with it!

Waldmaus

My name is German for "woods mouse". I'm quiet and shy, and prefer the woods to the city.

Cymruambyth

My username is Welsh for "Wales for ever!", a sentiment I heartily endorse, proud as I am of my Welsh heritage.

Daaanieeel I wish there was a cool story behind it, but honestly I chose it just because I couldn't come up with a good name that wasn't already taken.

runaway_drive Mine was weird, I came up with two words that I thought would be pretty cool to put together, and I just put an underscore between them.

bloodandsand I thought for sure you were a fan of the Spartacus show on Starz. The first season was "Spartacus Blood and Sand".

Cymruambyth & Satguru Ty yours were two of the nicks that made me think of the question. Mystery solved! :)

Waldmaus Why in German?

George48 I'm curious too. Why from Mice and Men?

Aussiedrongo What does that mean?

Everyone else thanks for the fun of learning how you picked your nicks.

Aussiedrongo

A drongo is a type of bird, the name of an Australian racehorse in the 1920's who was famous for never winning a race, and a slang term for a foolish and stupid person. You are free to take your pick from those choices.

insanity22186 I had a really, really bad day at work and then traffic was horrible. I was looking for something to take my mind off work and aggravation the day I signed up for FT. So I signed up to be "insanity". The really funny thing is there must be more of them on the site, because the only name I could have as Insanity was "Insanity22186". I have since retired and I'm really a calm, patient grandmother who seldom acts insane. Bobbie
