Hello to all sprinters,

this thread will be used for the "W" clue set for the FunTrivia sprint. Each of the clues will be posted at some time during the release date (as early as possible) and then a post will be made in the game's main thread to inform you about the new clue.

IMPORTANT: Once each new clue has been posted, clicking on this thread WILL start your timer for the round. Thus, once the game starts, do not come here until you are ready to start writing for the week! (If in doubt, check the main thread first to see if the clue has already been released.)

POSTING RULES: Since this is the best, "safe" place to do so, you can ask any questions you may have about the clues here; thus, the thread will not be closed. However, please make sure you only post questions pertaining to the currently active clue - any discussions on past clues or general aspects of writing for the Sprint that do not spoil the clue for those who have not seen it yet should go in the game's main thread. Please do not send clue clarification questions by PM - any clarification request should be made in the open and the answer will benefit all players.

Task 1 – A teamed theme

Welcome to the FunTrivia Sprint – or, as some call it, the Twelve Labours of Funtrivia.

I'll make this easy for you to start (every good racer needs a warm-up): You are free in your choice of topic, subtopic and quiz format. All I request for this task is that you prominently have a specific word in the title which is the most important word in your team's name. So a member of the Cat People would use "Cat", a member of the Midwest players would use "Midwest", etc. If you are not in a team, your keyword is "Independent". If two words in the title seem equally important, please use the longer one

Inevitable questions answered:
- If two words in the title seem equally important, please use the longer one. A "Revenge of the Llamas" member would thus write about "Revenge".
- Spell the word correctly, even if it is spelled wrong in the team name for some effect. (So it's "Dudes" instead of "d00dz".)
- If your team name contains a number greater than 12, you may use it instead of a word; in that case, however, the quiz may not be in General/Numbers. Numbers less than 12 are ineligible unless the team name writes them out as a word.
- You are not allowed to change teams to get a "better" word. Not that you would, but I want to be safe :)
- Except in the numbers case above, it's perfectly legitimate for your quiz to be a straightforward one about what the word suggests.
- Modifications of the word are not permitted, you must use it in the exact form given (including singular/plural or tense). You may however use it in a different function (e.g. if a team "Friends of the Cross" existed, you could write "Cross the Road" even though one is a noun and the other a verb.

I submitted mine at 10:57 FunTrivia time, which is 11:57 my time. I always get nervous when I submit a quiz, but I'm really nervous about this one...maybe it's just because I feel like there is more pressure on me because this is a competition.

Wes, Mariamir and I are not on the same team, so I have created a quiz with the word "Independent" in the title. Am I off base? Do I have to use "Mamma" because of my team's name even though Mariamir is not on that team?

zorba_scank Sue, you'll have to take the team name of the member submitting the quiz. It was mentioned somewhere. Independent is for those who are not on any FT team.

Crumb, the way I read the clue, I thought that since we are two playing as a team and are not on a team together I could use independent. I'm almost done with the quiz. I will submit it and then start on another Mamma quiz, if it is truly needed. Thanks for the heads up, sharon.
