Subject: - FT Sprint: Wesley's Clue Thread -
Date: Apr 11 12

Hello to all sprinters,

this thread will be used for the "W" clue set for the FunTrivia sprint. Each of the clues will be posted at some time during the release date (as early as possible) and then a post will be made in the game's main thread to inform you about the new clue.

IMPORTANT: Once each new clue has been posted, clicking on this thread WILL start your timer for the round. Thus, once the game starts, do not come here until you are ready to start writing for the week! (If in doubt, check the main thread first to see if the clue has already been released.)

POSTING RULES: Since this is the best, "safe" place to do so, you can ask any questions you may have about the clues here; thus, the thread will not be closed. However, please make sure you only post questions pertaining to the currently active clue - any discussions on past clues or general aspects of writing for the Sprint that do not spoil the clue for those who have not seen it yet should go in the game's main thread. Please do not send clue clarification questions by PM - any clarification request should be made in the open and the answer will benefit all players.

And now - have fun with the Sprint!

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I've submitted my Independent Quiz (which probably doesn't count) and will go on to write the Mamma one next. Is Mamma an accepted spelling for that word, or do I need to use some other spelling?

This is turning out to be more of a Marathon than a sprint for us! :)

Sue, you'll want to use Mammas. When I read the clue it did say you must leave it exactly how it is including singular/plural.

Good luck with the quiz! :) At least this can keep you occupied I am patiently waiting for Saturday night for the next clue to come.

Yes, it is "Mammas". The plural must be retained.

Thanks for the clarification. If I do it, I'll have to do it tonight, but it may not improve the time that we already have with the one that Marissa submitted for the other thread. :)

Apparently the queue size in Animals is back to quite normal.

I've now submitted by 'Famous Australian Icons' quiz, and there wasn't one poisonous/lethal animal featured!

Even though it isn't a Sprint quiz, please check out the one I wrote in answer to Wes' challenge: http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/ForChildren/Independent-Thinkers-348719.html

Wes, I did end up submitting another quiz in response to this clue, one that has "Mammas" in the title. It is called "Famous Mammas, Pappas and Kiddies" in Celebrities. I doubt the timing on it is better than the one that teammate Mariamir already submitted on Kyle's thread, but since that one hasn't come through the review yet, we decided to go with the other option here as well.

Maria's will have the lower raw time as far as I see it, but if hers should collect rejections and yours pass on the first try, yours might come out to be the overall more advantageous. It'll all be calculated at the end :)

Thanks, and since the real goal is to create new quizzes that we may not have come up with otherwise without this inspiration, it's all good. My team will love having another quiz with Mamma in the title to play. :)

Mariamir's name is Marissa (I thought she was a Maria too), and her quiz did come back with a few corrections, but she sent it back after only five minutes, so her time should still be the better one for our team. Too bad my first stab didn't follow the instructions because it got on right away!

Thanks to you and Kyle for thinking this up. It really is addictive and fun.

Mine is still languishing in the queue, although I did know when I chose the category that it tends to have one of the longest waits - I have no one to blame but me lol.
