You did a great job. In my job, I interact with all types of people--white, black, Hispanic...and a lot of poor people. I've always tried not to judge a book by its cover but when I see some of these people come out of their house to get in my van I know what the prejudiced statements of a bigot would be. I've heard most of it. Then, as I get to talking to these people, a sense of anger at those attitudes comes over me. You just never know who someone is until you start to interact with them. The bigot may very well be insulting someone who would lay down their life for him. There's good and bad in every race, color and creed. Opinions of others MUST be based on the individual and not a category.
So, I can relate to the poem from that perspective and, again, nice job.

I'm so glad that you post it! I can relate to the poem as well as all people that have a disability.

Agreed, nicely written. I like your point that it affects some more than others; very true. Thanks for sharing this.

Very well written and it certainly says it all. I agree with the others that have responded.
For sure, I know a few people that should really read this.

Well said, J - and you too, Rick:
"There's good and bad in every race, color and creed."
Course there is!
Forget better nature: on a purely selfish note, you can shoot yourself in the foot by making snap judgements.
Years ago, I heard a nice story about a smelly old tramp who went to a new car show. He wandered round, looking at a lot of different cars, but kept coming back to one of the most luxurious, and - of course - most expensive.
"I really like the look of that one."
"Yeah, sure you do. Har har."
The "tramp" dug out his wallet, and pulled out enough cash to buy the car.
As far as I know, that's where the story ended. He bought it, hopped in, and drove off. For me, it would have been a lot better if he'd run over the salesman who laughed at him. Is that naughty of me?
