Do you know what I think is a really lovely sight, another foolish pleasure?
Those huge cobwebs that spread from bush to bush sometimes -after it has been raining and the sun has come out again and shines on the droplets of water on the web, it just takes my breath away. It's like this huge delicate net of sparkling diamonds.
Probably qualifies me for a role in "The Munsters" but ah well, who cares.

I am housesitting for my sister while she is on vacation. My main task is to look after Max, the Beagle. He is a bachelor, like me, and so is not much trouble.

No, that's the wrong dog. I'm thinking of basset hounds.
My daughter bought little winter coats with fur hoods for the two cocker spaniels yesterday. They kept walking backwards and sidewards in them and banging into furniture. Naturally we screamed with laughter, and if cocker spaniels could glare, they would have. Their tails even stopped wagging.
Today she went out for the day and left them here in the yard. When I looked out at them an hour later, the naughty things had chewed each other's coat off and were dragging them all round the yard, playing tug-o-war with them, and growling. I bet, if they could talk, they would have said, "Let's see you laugh at that!"

I was away for a bit and just caught up to your question. There are more than one theory concerning the term "redneck." The one to which I ascribe is that the word refers to farmers who toiled in the sun all day ending up with a sunburned neck. It was a historically derogatory term used for poor illiterate white southern farmers. The southern male has taken back the word and use it with pride. I like to think being independent and self sufficient are inherent in the term redneck.

Thanks! That's interesting. It should go into a quiz question perhaps. Over here they refer to conservative politicians as Rednecks. I doubt there'd be too many hard working farmers among them though. Hard working hogwash(ers) more like.

Max is on hunger strike. He refuses to eat his dog food. He follows me everywhere, hoping for a treat or to pick up crumbs of people food.
By the way, any resemblance between me and Suri is entirely coincidental.
