First of all, what's up with the phrase "rules are rules"? It's either said by those who are too strict with their "enforcement of said "rules," or they're too lax.

Second I'd like to thank everyone reading this--and assure you, yet again, that my previous blogs having been deleted are completely and categorically my fault. **You did nothing *wrong.

Which brings me to another rant: why is it some people (nobody on here, I'm sure) can't accept responsibility for*anything. "If blame is to be going around... just don't look at me."

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Fergus was only eleven but, in Wizarding Society, that’s old enough to obtain a license. For those that want one, that is. He was burly and muscular, but thin compared with his older brother, Lachlainn. He was the Enforcer, and was far more skilled with delivering beatings than his brother. Fergus, on the other hand, was more adept in the use of magic. He could, for example, spray his victim with this magical mist that was like poison, but targeted to only one individual at a time. Even Lachlainn, were he careful, could utilize this, though in a modified form. But only Fergus could use his deadly energies to penetrate a target’s mind and plant tiny “devices” there designed to deflect any Powers the target may still be able to use back at him or her. “There’s nothing quite so dangerous,” as one of my teachers once said, “as your own energies being made to work against you.” Especially if one can manipulate anything like fire, or send lances of emotion at an opponent—which both myself and my twin can.
Apparently, another thing Fergus can do is block the twin connection, because I soon found myself well and truly alone. I kept reminding myself to take slow, deep breaths, but it’s often hard to concentrate in a situation where one’s life is on the line. At least that’s been my experience.

I don’t know where I found the strength, but I managed, mostly by closing my eyes so I wouldn’t see the blood still flowing like a raging river from my injuries, to prop myself against the seat. I nearly screamed, that’s how much it hurt, but amazingly kept it reined in. Of all my physical injuries, my back was the worst, red and weepy, with all the bones fully exposed to the air. It’s truly a miracle I was able to move at all.
Gritting my teeth, I slid my damaged fingers under the handle of the door handle and pulled. To my surprise, the door popped open. Before I could think what I was doing, and with my eyes still scrunched tight in concentration, I jumped.

I knew, from my reading, that the place some called “the end of the road” was in a secluded spot, surrounded by woods, and was basically a set of three or four steep inclines, or sheer cliffs depending on one’s view. So I was expecting the drop, at least to a certain extent. I had no illusions I would survive the fall, but at least I’d die on my own terms and not at the hands of my attackers.
As I flew through the air for the space of a few seconds, I somehow angled myself so that myabdominal region would take the brunt of the impact. I uttered a quick apology to Ontario and all my friends at the School, then felt myself slam into the ground. Mymomentum or something must have tossed me back in the air again, for my body bounced a few times before rupturing completely, and spraying bits of flesh and bone in every direction.

I was confused to see myself, utterly broken, stuck on some of the pointiest rocks in the area, yet at the same time clearly alive. It made no sense, and then I remembered how certain individuals are permitted, before or during a crisis situation, Odomahra status. In other words, they’re allowed to join the ranks of Spirit Warriors, and permitted to roam the world of man at will.
There was no exhilaration in this revelation of mine. All was sadness as I surveyed the gruesome scene before me. And then I felt it, an evil presence somewhere behind, and a short time later saw those Ferguson brothers walking hand in hand toard the spot where my body had splattered. “I told you he’d not survive a fall like that,” said one, adding that their job was done. **Yours may *be, I thought, **but the Protector’s is *not! And with all the control I could muster in my new form—I’d never realized prior to becoming a spirit how much more concentration it takes to control one’s abilities—I sent a shower of gravel, closely followed by their runaway vehicle, down on the two of them.

THE END OF THE ROAD 4
======
The Dark have always been adept at assimilating wherever they happen to be. They adapt so quickly, others often don’t even notice. Such was definetly the case with the Ferguson brothers.
Lachlainn was about sixteen or seventeen when he first “moved into the area.” It looked like he’d been lifting weights his whole life. Scared me half to death the first time we met.
His brother, Fergus, was six or seven years younger, and not as muscular. For that reason, he perfected his skills in the use of magic.
Certainly, both brothers escaped notice by the School’s teachers. Their grades weren’t exceptional either way. They were often seen conversing in low whispers, by all accounts studying for some class or other.
It wasn’t even considered odd that they never missed a lessonl. Where one was, so was the other. Illness of any kind just seemed to slip them by.

That is, until the year Fergus turned eleven. His birthday dawned sunny, not acloud in the sky. Everyone lined up excitedly in the cafeteria for the morning meal. Halfway through, Fergus left, complaining of stomach upset, and wasn’t seen again.
His brother went on with his day as if he hadn’t a care in the Universe. He ate his meal, drifted in and out of lessons, and then went back to the room to check on his younger brother.

Fergus was counting ceiling tiles when Fergus walked in. “You had to pick today,” he muttered darkly as he sat up to make room for Lachlainn on the narrow bed.
The older boy’s eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about,” he snarled.
His brother chuckled softly, humorlessly. “Something tells me I don’t have to clarify that, that you already know.”
Lachlainn sat down and looked hard at his sibling before answering. “You knew this day was coming,” he murmured finally, “but now it has you don’t want to go through with it.”
“What’s he done to us,” the younger boy countered, “nothing except breathe our air.”
“He was an enemy of fathers,” Lachlainn spat, “and that’s good enough for me.” He paused, choosing his words carefully. When he spoke next, it was in a deadly voice that sent chills coursing through Fergus. “I haven’t spent all this time getting close to him for nothing. If you don’t want to help, fine; but STAY OUT OF MY WAY.”
The younger boy nodded numbly, his stomach muscles clenching. He knew his older brother too well to think he could possibly step between him and his intended quarry unscathed. He watched wordlessly as his sibling left as soon as he’d come. The time had come.

Next door, a nine-year-old named Alonso Gonzales was taking meticulous notes for the report he was writing. He didn’t even hear the door open, so deep was his concentration.
There was nothing particularly special about Alonso. He was of medium height, with crystalline blue eyes and wavy dark hair. He was struggling to keep his grades up, and wasn’t even half as proficient in the use of his Powers as his identical twin, Ontario, was. He was a quiet boy whose eyes had known too much suffering. Therefore, it was astounding that he didn’t sense the danger before he did.

Perhaps, I reflected later, the nine-year-old DID, in fact, recognize the threat, but chose to ignore it. Maybe he thought it would go away. I don’t know. All I CAN say with certainty is that when the blows started coming, they were fast and furious. Alonso was so taken by surprise, he didn’t even cry out as he toppled from his chair and blood spurted everywhere like rain pouring from the heavens. His body jerked spasmodically a few times, then lay still.
Lachlainn’s movements were hurried, like a tornado. But he didn’t stop even when it was plain his victim was unconscious. He’d come intent on finishing the boy, and he never started a task without seeing it to his conclusion.

Meanwhile, Fergus had managed to haul himself out of bed and stumble over to the door. He couldn’t just lie in bed knowing what his brother intended. Swallowing hard, he yanked the door open and snuck next door.
The eleven-year-old arrived to a scene the likes of which he’d never seen, not even in his wildest nightmares. His older brother sat on the bed, his entire body awash in the blood of his victim. Fragments of torn skin and bone lay scattered every which way.

The seventeen-year-old smiled lazily. “I didn’t expect you,” he remarked. Fergus couldn’t tell whether his sibling sounded triumphant or not. Again, that shiver traveled up and down his spine. “We should clean up,” he said quietly.
The older boy looked at him for a few seconds before finally nodding. “We should. And after, we’ll study for that test on language development tomorrow.”

WHY INCLUDE THIS IN THAT FOLDER? IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE A DIFFERENT STORY, EXCEPT FOR THE SAME CHARACTERS. CERTAINLY, THE "END OF THE ROAD" ISN'T THE KID'S DORM ROOM. SO, WHAT POSSESSED ME?

I don’t remember much before the explosion that wrenched my insides and turned the whole Universe upside-down. It was just a regular day in the hill country, with life going about as usual. Of course, everyone knew that we Xynorans were at war with the far-off kingdom of Scenoria. No one around the hut where I and my twin brother and sister lived with our parents were worried. Any gunfire would take place far from us, as there was no reason to. Sure, the leadership of the kingdom was here, bot nothing really important like the planet’s Power Supply. Then again, not many people in the area had even HEARD, let alone SEEN, a true battle. Not even the magical kind, which was strange as we all lived in a magical community.

The worst part about that day was what we were doing. Deuteyro and Seyvora had been out playing earlier, some game that expended a lot of energy, so they were tired. Papa was in the habit of staying awake all night for some reason, so he slept during the day. Mama was in the kitchen baking, until she realized she was out of a few things, so she sent me out to the store for them. Little did I know, but by doing so she saved my life.

It’s not bad enough being the new kid, but now there’s this GIRL who won’t leave me alone! I can’t even remember her name, that’s how bad it is. All I was doing was minding my own business, trying to deal as best I could, and SHE walks into my life. As if I need another complication.

The night my brother died will stay wioth me forever, haunting my dreams. Each night, I beg the spirit, if there is such a thing, to forgive my inaction. I don’t try to make excuses. Those would just be empty words, and a way of dishonoring Nehru’s memory.

He only had the beginning days of his life. He rarely ever cried, always smiling. I keep wondering what he’d have been like had he been allowed to grow up.
I always knew there was something not quite right about our mother. I could never quite put my finger on it and, I expect, wouldn’t have known what to do even if I had.
I’m told I don’t act like kids my age but, honestly, what do they expect? I grew up with a psycho for a mother, go to sleep with the sounds of my brother’s last moments ringing in my ears.

The day started innocent enough. I now marvel that beauty and evil can inhabit the same Universe. I ssuppose it’s that way so we can appreciate what we have, but it still doesn’t seem fair.

It’s hard to believe that two people who grew up under the same roof and were raised by the same parents can be so different. I’ve watched my older brother turn into a monster I barely recognize. He’s not even human anymore. I suppose that’s what comes of embracing Darkness so completely that it wipes your very soul from existence.

Xiveydo and I are, in fact, only half brothers. I think he may have met his father, though he never says so, and Mama just turns thediscussion in another direction if the topic comes up. But sometimes when she thinks no one’s listening, I hear her crying in her room, or muttering something fierce. The only words I can ever determine with any accuracy are “Xynoran” and “damned deceiver”. I don’t think Xiveydo’s heard; at least, I hope not.
