First of all, what's up with the phrase "rules are rules"? It's either said by those who are too strict with their "enforcement of said "rules," or they're too lax.

Second I'd like to thank everyone reading this--and assure you, yet again, that my previous blogs having been deleted are completely and categorically my fault. **You did nothing *wrong.

Which brings me to another rant: why is it some people (nobody on here, I'm sure) can't accept responsibility for*anything. "If blame is to be going around... just don't look at me."

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

WEIRD
======
My landline’s working again. I was able to make two outgoing calls first thing this morning, one to the office and one to Newsline.

MOST EVIL
======
I haven’t seen this program in two years, but I remember it used to be one of my favorites. It also used to run at night, not in the morning like today. ‘More than a few of my villains were inspired by episodes of “Most Evil.”

======
I only watched one hour of the three they ran this morning. Criminals discussed during the hour included “The Lipstick Killer” and the “Black Dahlia Murderer,” who may just have been the same person—a surgeon who considered himself an artist.

HERE
======

The books I orderecd from Braille Institute are here—I didn’t expect them so soon. ‘Incantation’ is one volume, as is ‘Vampireology.’ And the other two selections, ‘Witch and Wizard’ and ‘The Winter People’ are two volumes.

VANPIREOLOGY
======
The first thing to catch my attention when I opened the book was the publisher’s note: “…there is little evidence to support the sensational stories of blood drinkers enscribed in these pages… due to the recent surge of interest in vampires and their relationship with humans, it was felt that this work might be of some merit in providing an alternative view of their origins and nature.”
The text starts out with a letter from one Protector to another: “There are few left with your skills and perceptions, and I trust no one else but you.”
Terms to look up (both from this text and from my head):
- Vampire powers
- Vampire origins
- Types of vampires
- Vampires around the world
- Chiang-shih
- Rakshasa
- Manananggal
- Lilith
- Sidthe
- Chupacabra
- Ba’al
- Moloch
- Belial
- Dhampir
There are various passages I’d love to underline, or otherwise quote, but not today.

Starting at 8, water being shut off

Two fire alarms (one at 8:30, the other at 3:30)

It appears that the fire bell and the water are connected, and that shutting off the water tripped it off (same went for when it was turned back on)

Doesn't make much sense, does it? Just going by what I was told.

Just resubmitted a quiz for the second time (second quiz correction in so many days)

Checked the dates, and I first created it in November, but didn't actually begin writing until August (I had a file in the computer in the interim).

I SHOULDN'T BE ALIVE
======
It’s the story of a young girl and her father whose camping trip is cut short when their vehicle’s tires go flat and the fuel tank ignites. ‘Out in the desert, miles from their fishing camp, and suffering from dehydration, their options for survival are limited—and looking more and more hopeless with every passing second. “After eight days of fighting to keep himself and Shannon alive, Matthew gives up.” But little does he know, rescue is right around the corner.’

PRINCE CASPIAN
======
Some years ago, Georgette and I went to see “Prince Caspian” in the theaters. So I was excited to see it in the listings for Si-Fi at 8. However, I missed the beginning—and spent the longest time wondering what I was watching. ‘I can follow action films to some extent, but not if I miss the crucial bit in the beginning—or any other second.’

THAT'S WY I HAVE THIS RULE THAT IF I MISS THE BEGINNING, I'M NOT WATCHING IT

WHAT IF (THE TUB)
======
“It just sounds a little funny.” This I told Chris when he came yesterday, and the topic of a fire came up.
“I’m not saying do that if the fire alarm goes off,” he said defensively, “but in a life or death situation—“ It does make sense—even if it does sound a little weird. Hopefully,a crisis situation wouldn’t present itself—but it’s good to have a plan just in case. ‘So if a fire were to be on my floor, I’ll just climb into the bathtub and turn the water on—pushing the shower lever to the right.’

11/2 - PRINCE CASPIAN
======
‘No wonder I lost interest in it!’ Missing an entire segment of film can make all the difference in the world. ‘Good thing “Si-Fi played it again.’

THE DEVIL YOU DON'T KNOW
=====
I told Mom I was getting ready to watch “The Devil You Know.” “I like that,” she said. “Barack Obama has this thing in his campaign that people are more afraid of the devil they don’t know than the devil they know.” Tomorrow, she wants my interpretation of the statement. ‘Trouble is, you could assign several meanings to it.’

- It could pertain to people, whereas we trust people we know and mistrust those we don’t.
- Or it could pertain to information: we trust sources we know to be reputable, or brands we know to be “good,” or advice from a person we trust.
- It could be taken to mean a group, rather than an individual.
- A company or business could be put into this category.
- The list goes on and on.
