I don't do this much anymore, but this was the point when the second series merged with the third, causing me to lose interest in the second. [story is called "Simulation"]

“It’s a simulation, nothing more.”
“He asked for an intervention.”
“We wouldn’t intentionally hurt you.”
“Perhaps none of us are as old as we pretend to be.”
“When you rejected it outright, your Power backlashed against you.”
“There’s never a guarantee for anything. Certain actions by those involved can change the outcome one way or another.”
“Many of the characters in the simulation haven’t even arrived yet.”

On side b of tape fourteen, Ontario encounters an internal conflict: he doesn’t believe himself to be the one spoken of by Prophecy, yet part of him does. Outwardly, he rejects the idea-and so his own Power acts up, weaking him.

11/12 - Update
======
Mom began the conversation with, “sorry for my absence. Let me explain myself.” Turns out, she and Stephanie were at the mall all day: “We went shopping and ate some pizza. Stephanie had actually wanted to see you, but I had to take her home so she could take some more medicine.”
For the past two weeks, Stephanie’s been exhibiting symptoms like nausea and dizziness. “She couldn’t sit… she has cancer in the primary site, which is the breast, but it’s also spread to her brain. At the moment, the prognosis is good, and she has treatments which she’ll start Monday.”

The Wedding
======
“The wedding was… interesting.” – Mom
“The whole thing was disorganized.” – Grandma
It was windy. It was cold. The guests huddling in the grass couldn’t hear what anyone on the porch said—except for the minister, that is. The food was spread throughout different rooms. The bride and groom were moody and grumpy all night.
And, as if that wasn’t enough excitement, Michael and Grandma hit three deer on the way home. “No one was hurt, but the car’s all busted up.”

[The First Story from the Twelvffth About] Stephanie
======
Stephanie’s out of the hospital and spending time with Mom. ‘And it sounds like she’s feeling better: while Mom and I were on the phone, she wouldn’t stop complaining!’

11/13 - Food
======
Mom bought me two things of meatloaf from the Butcher Shop, one with Gravy and the other with “the special sauce”. Also, a meal of sausage, potatoes and corn. Additionally, she brought over “an extra large helping” of chicken lasagna, which went in the freezer along with the meatloaf. Also, four salads (which I made with Mom’s help), a container of ambrosia and three omelets. And Mom brought a box of cookies of various flavors: “They’re from the wedding.” ‘Whatever Lisa is or isn’t, she’s a good baker.’

What the World [this was getting annoying, as Grandma was repeating everything. I *do* so hate it wen things get redundant!]
======
“What in the world,” Grandma kept exclaiming as she talked about how strange the wedding was. The happy couple were grumpy, the food was divided among all the rooms, it was hard to hear, children were banned from the receptio n… and on and on and on.

It was a measure of my stress level that I wrote that

Fire Alarm (nothing so annoying)
======
I was getting ready to listen to some music when the fire alarm started blaring. ‘What the—‘ I panicked, but not overly, and practically ran to the door. Then, when the alarm stopped, I yelled “what the hell?” ‘Two minutes?’ So, as soon as I sat down, I called Sue: “They were testing the fire alarm.” ‘She anticipated my question again before I even asked it!’

They must have performed their test early this year [hopefully, that's it for a while]

Imager's Challenge (predictable versus not so predictable)
======
What was rediculous in “The Wrecker” works in Imager’s Challenge,” presumably because the author doesn’t make it quite so obvious the main character’s being drawn into a trap. ‘After he’s lured into the trap, the woman in “The Wrecker” turns to the two thugs and says, “Pay me.” But even without that, there was a level of predictability because of how the whole thing’s written—can’t be helped, I suppose, since the main character, or one of the main characters, is also the main villain. But it probably would have been better without that “pay me” line.’ [rather... **too *obvious]

11/14 - Package
=======
Sue brought up three packages and, after asking for permission, opened them. Two were magazines, and the other the merchandise from ILA.

The first thing I noticed was that the buttons on the watch weren’t as raised as how I remember—really, they are, but the way it’s made it doesn’t look like it.
The second thing I noticed is that both the clock and the watch can be set to announce either 24- or 12-hour time. And the clock has a snooze, which the other one doesn’t; that one’s also 12-hour time only.

“ The ladies at the elevator gave me these to give to you,” Mom explained as she put the bag down on the table. “They’re called Everything Pretzels.”

[Actually inspired a draft]
======
My reaction was the same. The first time I relistened to it after recording the scene, I couldn’t help but shudder. ‘Tape ten, side b, finds Silvia Hawthorne still on the Dark scene. “What are *you still doing in the land of the living,” Qydra demands. To listen to them, one would never guess the y’re mother and son. “He,” she responds, pointing to Ontario, “only knocked me out.” And this is when the Fairy Lord loses his temper [until he comes up with the perfect punishment].

11/15 - History's Mysteries
======
It airs on History International at 8 and 2. Today, “History’s Mysteries” caught my attention because it was about the witch trials. To be honest, I missed the earlier one, as I was getting ready for Grandma to come, but I knew she’d be gone by the time the show came on again. ‘She left earlier than usual, having come earlier than anticipated. Oh, well-she’ll be at Mom’s for Thanksgiving; surely, she’ll linger a bit then.’

Ha--as if!

Gallows Hill
======
“You mean it’s based on a real place,” I blurted. I was seated at the kitchen table listening to “History’s Mysteries.”
I vaguely remember reading the book, but the author’s name seems to have eluded me. ‘Unless—‘ “Lois Duncan, maybe?” ‘Let’s see what the Internet has to offer.’

“Oh, my God, I was right,” I exclaimed as the pages came up. And now I remember how I came to read it: When I was in high school, I had a piece of equipment called a Braille Lite, and it had a disk drive. The drive took floppy disks, and I could download Braille books onto the disk, to transfer into the Braille Lite at a later time.I copied a few books over, but that was a long time ago; I now have a Pac Mate, and something prevents me from connecting to the computer—I’m done even trying to understand the technology. Plus, the computer I have doesn’t read floppies, and my Pac Mate only takes tiny storage cards.

Lunch consisted of a sweet bologna sandwich, a handful of pretzels, and a Yoplait Chocolate Mousse yogurt. Later, I opened a pack of peanut butter cups.
