This evening, I called Bill, and we were talking for a while. Topics included the weather, chores (and life), and the Superbowl. He told me who’s playing tomorrow and where, as well as who he’d like to win.
One of the first things he wanted to know was how my “boss” was. “You do know who your boss is?” Well… no. “Your mother!” He also asked about how Grandma was, and about Eric. I explained about how he went to Colorado to learn certain skills in order to be more independent, then found an apartment and decided to live there. “But I thought the two of you were going to marry someday.” I explained how, at one time, I entertained that thought—but I realized it just wawsn’t realistic. First, he didn’t feel the same way I felt (I, like the young fool I was, blurted out that I liked him as more than a friend). Plus, on certain issues we just… clash, for lack of a better word (he holds racist/prejudicial views, and I just can’t stand someone like that – there were a few times when I seriously considered dissolving our friendship).
I also told Bill a little about Tiffany—but not too much , as he was preparing to watch a show relating to the superbowl.

I'm getting free lettuce :)
I didnt even complain, not really. When I made my grocery order, I told the woman to be careful, because the stuff I got last week was rotten. "Then we won't charge you for the two bags." Nice.

There's more than one explanation for why this happens, not all of which make sense. Then again, as I say in my story, "what does make sense?"
Not so long ago, my toilet just started running, for about a second, and then shut off. I then had the thought that it's almost as if my commode is haunted.
My keyboard's possessed, too: I'm typing all the keys, but not all the letters come up on the screen and so I need to spend time correcting what I've written. (Oddly enough, it doesn't always work that way.)

It's Sweedish meatball time :)
Mom stopped by briefly with two containers. They're bursting, she said, so I'll probably want to eat those midday and then something lighter later.

I ordered from Marco's this afternoon. No cash, so used my card. First time. The man who answered said something about it being cheaper to use cash. Yes, I get that, but I don't have any at the moment.
Got two orders of chicken fingers, and were they ever good!

Grandma comes Thursday for a sleepover. Appointment's at 3:30 or 4 on Friday, so plenty of time for labeling and whatever we have to get done.

This seems highly unlikely, and yet...

I turned the Stopwatch off as soon as it announced four minutes. ‘Depending how I feel, I’ll do more after dinner.’

DEADLY WOMEN
=======
I wasn’t going to, but at the last minute I decided to watch “Deadly Women,” the first hour being devoted to “Mothers who kill. |

=======
The first segment is about Anita, who smothers her three-year-old son, Eric. “Smothering, unfortunately, is an easy thing to do.” She then murders her six-week-old daughter and her other two-year-old son in a two-week time span. “Nobody suspects Juanita,” and she gives birth to a fourth child, Molly. Actually, nurses suspected that the mother was harming her kids, but the doctor in charge disagreed. AzMedical research allows another murder.” ‘Another woman with Munchausen Biproxy Disorder.’ “But in 1971, Juanita isn’t diagnosed.” “SIDS does not run in families, but murder does.” “She [Juanita] gave an alibi to other mothers who killed their children.”
------
There may be a story idea in there yet [I had it, and then I discarded it--but I think it's coming bacck up to the surface.]
Cryptic by design --- can't give anything away, ya know

Next: Andrea Yates. ‘One of the women whose profile I read online.’ “Rusty Yates has extreme religious views… Each of their five children is named after a biblical character… The voices in Andrea’s head tell her Satan Is going to take her children.” “For two years, she is in and out of psychiatric treatment, but the medical community limits her stays.” “Andrea truly believed at her core that she was a bad mother… and the only way to save her children was to kill them.””One by one, Andrea takes her children into the bathroom… Noah, the eldest, is the last of the children to die.”

The last segment of that hour is about another woman I read about, Susan Smith. One of the many quotes was, “Why would you be speaking about these kids in the past tense if you thought they were out there somewhere?” And the program ends with these chilling words: “Most women would die to save their children, but not these.”
-------
Again, possible story idea.

The next episode is about women “seduced by the dark thrill of the kill.” ‘Very early on, I wondered why this show sounded familiar. Turns out, it was an old rerun. I watched the first segment, in which a twelve-year-old girl is brutally raped and tortured by at least three young women. “Group pressure can overcome an individuall’s instinct for caution.” “Jealousy is probably the most common motivator of murder.” “Shana suffered unimaginable abuse.” “Fifteen-year-old Toni Laurens is the only one to resist.” ‘As if what happened to Shana wasn’t bad enough, her father commits suicide.’
--------
I see a parallel.

The next story was about Brenda, who goes on a shooting rampage at a nearby elementary school at 16. “Brenda’s .22 caliber rifle is a Christmas present from her father.” “Brenda was a very, very good shot.” Asked why she did it: “I don’t like Mondays.” ‘She fired thirty-six times!’
------
What kind of lame excuse is that? I don't like Mondays, either, but I don't leave my house and go on a shooting spree!

GROCERIES
======
The Zweier’s delivery guy wasn’t the one I normally interact with, as it’s Wednesday and I don’t normally call in my order until Wednesday. So I explained where items went, and if anything was marked how that was done. “The milk gets this,” I said, holding up a twist tie, “and the chocolate milk gets this,” I said, showing him both a twist-tie and a rubber band.
------
I gave up on that, for it just wasn't worth the aggravation.

After everything had been put away, I asked him how much the bill was.
“Four hundred dollars.”
“Very funny.”
I forget the actual amount, but it was less than fifty.

That's why he's "the wise guy."

LIONS CLUB
=======
I was taking a nap when Christy from the Lions Club called to ask if I was going to the dinner at the Country Club. I said I was, and that my grandmother would be providing transportation. ‘So nice to know people communicate with each other!’
-------
That last remark was in reference to my talk with Emily from Susquehanna. I know she and Christy talk, so I assumed the information had been passed along. After all, Emily *told me* she'd do that very thing!

RIVALS
=======
“Oh, no—I know what this is based on!”
In other words, “I really didn’t want to miss that!” ‘Another movie inspired by a murder case I saw on “Deadly Women.”’
------
Another potential story idea.

NOT THIS TIME
======
‘Not this time.’ Instead of “Engaged to Kill” I decided to watch “Deadly Women.” ‘But I’m not missing “Betrayed at 17” again, as I missed over half of it by being in the other room.

Are you sure it wasn't for the best? Besides, you were busy doing other stuff---"multitasking," I believe the term is.

THE SPILL
=======
‘They fill that thing way too full.’ I’d just spilled chicken broth and some noodles from the soup before heating it. ‘Such a mess!’ I tried to clean it up, but as with other spills I’m never really sure if I did a good job or not.

TOMORROW
======
“I’m not picking you up before 11, so you don’t have to rush.”
Mom and I said good night, as whenever I turn off the set I’m going to bed.’Lunch isn’t until 1, so I’ll sleep until 8:30. That should give me plenty of time to wash my hair and do whatever else I need to in order to prepare.
