FIX-IT
=======
I opened the cabinet under Ethan’s cage, and the handle came off. “Oh, Fix-It Grandma,” I called. |

So now I have two things to ask her: if she’ll help me take the laundry down tomorrow, and if she’ll look at this door handle.

DOCTOR
=======
There were two back-to-back episodes of “Doctor Phil.” One concerned sexual orientation; the other, and the one that interested me, gender identity.

MOM'S VISIT
=======
Mom read me the Christmas cards from the Kreisers, Mary Brightbill, Becky, Betty T., Julia, and Annemarie Weik. The latter card had a Popsicle stick figure on it (Rudolph), which if I remind Mom will join the others on the refrigerator. |

SHE DOESN’T HAVE A CHIROPRACTOR APPOINTMENT TOMORROW, SO WE’LL SPEND MORE TIME TOGETHER THAN WE DID TODAY. She left not too long after, wanting to get some cooking done before Edward’s chamber concert tonight. |

SOUNDED GOOD

It sounded good. LIKE SOME BOOKS, THESE TV PROGRAMS ONLY HAVE A ONE-LINE SUMMARY. |

“Once Upon a Time” aired at 8:00 on channel 12, and I spent the entire hour OR ABOUT THE WHOLE TIME wondering what the big deal was.

THINKING
=======
This is when I confess to feeling bad for Mom. She has so many health problems: a bad back, asthma, allergies, hypertension. I CAN’T HELP THINKING SHE’D FEEL BETTER IF SHE’D CONFRONT THE PAST. But she’s been so good at denying any message in that direction AND, IN FACT, ENCOURAGES ME TO “LET IT GO.” I’M SORRY, BUT SOME PEOPLE TAKE LONGER TO DEAL WITH THEIR ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PAST, ESPECIALLY IF THEY HOPE TO LEAD A MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFE AFTERWARD, UNINHINDERED BY SUCH THINGS AS FLASHBACKS!

WITHOUT A TRACE [SAME MISTAKE AS "ONCE UPON A TIME"]

It was the first time I’d been interested in an episode. I CAN’T SAY I EVER WILL BE AGAIN, THOUGH. |

It involved the abduction of a boy from another country. DISAPPOINTING.

12/13 - COLD BLOOD
=======
“Cold Case” was also at 9, but “Cold Blood” sounded better. Plus, the station airing the former is acting—as Mom would say—“squirely.” [SQUIRRELY"]

The story was that of a sixteen-year-old finding his mother dying from “a savage attack.” At the hospital, she lapses into a coma from which she never wakes. Authorities thoroughly search the apartment, unearthing “an angry note” from Natelie’s “on-again off-again boyfriend.” Unfortunately, he doesn’t match the sketch of the killer provided by a neighbor, so police are forced to cross him off the suspect list. |
