Daryl and DJ came in and sat at the table next to us. Real loud, Daryl said, “I didn’t realize you’d been let out of prison.” |

“Yeah, for good behavior, they do.” [Funny how I didn’t remember that until she told the story—it must have been a long time ago.]

12/26 [FOR SOME REASON, I HAVE MY CHRISTMAS GIFTS FROM MOM IN THIS FOLDER]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There were two gift bags. One had a bottle of country apple shower gel and another of the same scented lotion. Plus, a snowman pin—which I later broke by accident. |
The other bag held two pairs of sweat pants which, when I took them out, excited me immensely. There was also a DVD—some sort of “Frosty” movie.
GIFT EXCHANGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I told her I didn’t have a gift for Tiffany, Mom helped me out. “I have a calendar with puppies on it you could give her.” She also helped me do a card.

12/27 - ASK THE DOCTORS
=====================================================
There are two PBS stations and, somehow, I had the wrong one at first. I should know better. [Notes on the episode follow]:

=====================
- “You shouldn’t have to suffer for something that’s not your fault, and that’s the case with sexual abuse… early identification… is crucial to minimizing suffering later in life.”
- “The perpetrator has set the stage with the victim.” [I don’t remember exactly, but I think the statement was referring to how the victims feel it’s because of something they did that the assault happened]

==================================
- “sixty percent of sexual assaults are never reported to police.”
- “One in four boys, one in six girls, before the age of eighteen.” [Disturbing statistic, that]
- “A lot of suicides happen because of childhood sexual abuse.” [Some people can be so cruel]
- “You have to confront the sexual abuse… so you can live your life.” [the same is true of other traumas]
- “If offenders like children, they’re going to put themselves places where they have access to children.” [scary]

=========================================================================
- “Always believe the child. In most circumstances, children do not lie about sexual abuse, because it’s an embarrassing topic to talk about.” [I once taled to my friend about the subject, and he had a hard time imagining how anyone could be dishonest about it]
- “It’s really important for parents to remain calm.” [hard enough for the child to open up without the parent overreacting]
- “A parent needs to seek professional help—they cannot handle this on their own.” [should be a no-brainer]
- “It doesn’t matter what age you are… get help.” [I wish I could underline that statement]

REVENGE

“Your show’s on tomorrow.”
“I know. Is it a new one?”
“I have no way of knowing that.”
“It better be a new one, or there’s liable to be a meltdown.”

It’s ironic that Mom and Anita were complaining the other day about how “Revenge” hasn’t been on for the past few weeks, and now here it is. I remember, a few weeks back, being intrigued enough to watch the show, but I never watched it because something else was on. Then it wasn’t on the next week.

PRESUMPTUOUS

Mom was at the gym when she received a call from Edward. Being unable to talk at the moment, she “forwarded” the call, sending a text message to the caller to say she’d call him later. |

Immediately she got a text saying, “I’m at your house, silly. Open the door!” “I’m not at my house, silly.” “We’ll wait.” Sometimes, I feel bad for Lainkan.

12/28 - AFRAID
===============================
I just realized something: it’s not the dark (physical darkness) that frightens me; I’m afraid of past demons (spiritual darkness). It’s one of the problems I have with Mom: I believe she’s running from the past, rather than confronting and dealing with what happened.That doesn’t really make sense to me; she’s so strong, and… talks about living in the present moment… but how can one do that without confronting past demons and hurts? Wouldn’t it be far better, even healthy, to properly and thoroughly deal with said past? What good does burying it do? Sooner or later, it rears its ugly head anyway.

TOP 40
==============================
I was going to stay in bed rather than watch the top 40, but my bacmk was hurting so much I figured it would be better if I got up and moving instead. Many of the videos I hadn’t even heard before, like Daughtry’s “Back to You” which was #40. Lesson? I need to listen to more music.

REVENGE
=======================
It would have been far easier if I’d watched from the beginning; then I wouldn’t need to ask whose voice is whose. I said this to Mom, to which she replied that surely I know who Emily is. “That’s the narrator, right?” “Right, that’s Emily Thorne, AKA. Amanda Clarke…”
Next week’s episode is a new one. “It’s bout damned time! We’ve been watching three weeks’ worth of reruns, and we’re not happy about it—Anita and I..”
