First of all, what's up with the phrase "rules are rules"? It's either said by those who are too strict with their "enforcement of said "rules," or they're too lax.

Second I'd like to thank everyone reading this--and assure you, yet again, that my previous blogs having been deleted are completely and categorically my fault. **You did nothing *wrong.

Which brings me to another rant: why is it some people (nobody on here, I'm sure) can't accept responsibility for*anything. "If blame is to be going around... just don't look at me."

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

CUTE STORY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~===========================~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“It’s all because of you.”
Most years, Tiffany and I didn’t have classes together, though we were in the same grade. In tenth grade, however, we had Writing Lab together, and in our senior year were in the same English class. And I think it was during one of those Writing Lab lessons when, out of boredom, I pulled an extra slate and stylus out of my bag and passed it to her.
“What’s this,” she asked, to which I replied that I was going to teach her Braille. I only taught her grade one, but that enabled her to write Braille notes for me when I had to write reports. [This was before we started taping stuff.]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~================================================================~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently, she found the need to look up the contractions for Grade II Braille. She was required to do so for her job, as one of the Borrowers asked for statements to be sent to him or her in Braille. Technically, Braille’s considered a language—just like English is. But since nobody knew how to “speak” it, except for Tiffany, no one was able to see if the pages were printing correctly. (They knew to ask her because she listed Braille on her resume.)
Mostly, the printing was fine—except for one or two letters that were smashed together. (I’ve seen similar over the years, requiring me to “interpret” what the Braille means.)

INCANTATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~================================================~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~===============================================================================================~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every now and then, though I have audio material readily available, I fel the need to read something in Braille. (I feel like I’m drowning without fresh “hardcopy” material.) And that’s why I decided to start ‘Incantation’ by Alice Hoffman. The following words from the beginning drew me right in:
“A monster is hard to see and even harder to kill. It takes time to grow so huge, time to crawl up into the open air. People will tell you it’s not there; that you’re imagining things. But a book iks a book. Pages are pages… Hatred is hatred.”
12/29 - BIRTHDAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`======~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most years, Tiffany and I don’t see each other until after my birthday, soshe gets me a combined Christmas and birthday present. This year, she just got me some things for Christmas; this Saturday, she’s going to go to Radio Shack for a microphone. ‘I also asked her to look for a tape recorder like the one I have, and if she finds one, I’ll reimburse her.’

ANXIETY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~==================~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“It is *not anxiety about sleeping over! That may have been the story I told her, but it’s much more than that.” This statement I made while washing my hands. ‘Just let Mom believe what she wants; I can’t elaborate and give her the answers she needs, so she’s supplying them. “My legs aren’t ready, and *I’m not ready.” I’ve had enough trips into the community for now. [Yeah… OK.]
When I first began “Incantation,” I knew it would be a book that changed my life. Still, about halfway through, I was still uncertain as to what it was really about ‘It should have been obvious the topic was the Spanish Inquisition, but it wasn’t to me.
INSPECTION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“That must have been what was on that paper.” I found it stuck between the door jamb yesterday, and took it out before it could falll on the floor when the delivery guy came. ‘Technically, an inspection—like a fire drillll—can occur at any time—but there usually is some sort of notice before the inspection.’

12/30 - MAIL

“I’m fairly certain I’m write about the first one,” I told Ethan as I ripped the envelope open. Sure enough, it was a ‘Short Stories’ magazine. The second was ‘Conundrum,’ and the third ‘Science News.’

GAME
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I’ve thought of a game,” Mom told me excitedly. Then, jokingly, she asked, “must I do everything?”
In spite of how lousy I was feeling, I tried to perk up as I listened to her describe the game, which dealt with current events. “And the part people have to guess at is the month.”
She asked me if I wouldn’t mind doing a search for things we could use. (I didn’t really find what I was looking for, but I did find some questions [what follows are the lines JAWS read—followed by my answers]).
Beyond that—and one which asked for the name of the President of Afghanistan (I blanked on it, though I knew I should know it), I didn’t find anything remotely close to interesting me.
PATERN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I notice a pattern here.” When I don’t want to do something, I literally make myself sick—but then I want to do it, fully aware that I can’t because I’m not well. ‘One could argue, on the other hand, that I didn’t want to do it because I sensed I was coming down with something—and that the guilt I felt only compounded the issue.’

Mom was incredulous and disbelieving yesterday when I told her I wasn’t feeling well. ‘Her response seemed to imply that all I had to do was “shake it off” and I’d be fine.’ Symptoms: headache and nausea. “Suck it up, Sally.” Add to that, as of today, a sore throat and diarrhea. “Suck it up, Sally.” (Not something I’m used to doing—and, speaking of which, how does one do that?)
