First of all, what's up with the phrase "rules are rules"? It's either said by those who are too strict with their "enforcement of said "rules," or they're too lax.

Second I'd like to thank everyone reading this--and assure you, yet again, that my previous blogs having been deleted are completely and categorically my fault. **You did nothing *wrong.

Which brings me to another rant: why is it some people (nobody on here, I'm sure) can't accept responsibility for*anything. "If blame is to be going around... just don't look at me."

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Mom came over with some food from the Butcher Shop. I owe her $16.

She wanted to show me this video she found yesterday of a parakeet talking. So we spent the time she wasn't sweeping my floor looking at videos.

Ethan was picking, and I don't have Bird Bath, so Mom put water in the bathroom sink and let him splash around for a bit. (At first, he flew around and landed in the tub; then, later, I couldn't help laughing as Mom asked if he wanted to swim in the toilet [what was I missing there? No, I don't want to know.].)

Georgette called. She wants to remind me her birthday's next Sunday(as if I could forget) and ask if she can come over Wednesday or Saturday to celebrate (that will be nice).

Tiffany was in another accident, this one on her birthday. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Laundry day

And Grandma's going to make up that card for Georgette

The card says something about how I appreciate her friendship, and wishes her a happy birthday (and mentions her age, which is the same as mine - I'm a few months older)

Turns out the vet couldn’t see Scrappy today, and instead Grandma cut the grass. Then she has an appointment Wednesday, I think she said for bloodwork. So she’s banking on Thursday or Friday.

SWALLOW YOUR FRUSTRATION, AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL YOU CHOKE ON IT
======
I felt like screaming, like telling her, “That’s just it, I don’t want to,” but that would have hurt her feelings, and that would have made me feel bad. And, truth is, I knew she ‘d do this, as she did it last year. Therefore, nothing she does should surprise me. Or make me mad. But it does.

It all started on Saturday. Georgette, who considers me her “best friend” called and was talking excitedly about her birthday on Friday: “So you can send me a card”. Later, she said, “You can send me a card if you want to.”
My first thought was, “You shouldn’t do stuff like that,” and then I got frustrated because she can’t understand stuff like this. How many times, I wonder, have people tried through the years to make her understand? It’s sad, because I’m constantly weighing my responses to her before I say them. And so our friendship’s really… awkward at times.

We met at the School to Work Program, in the IU building I attended after graduating with my class, as Mom and my teachers didn’t feel I was ready for the real world yet. I wasn’t working, didn’t take initiative… much of which hasn’t changed—aside from the work experience I gained while I was there, the places I went, the jobs I did: putting tags on watches, grooming dogs… and making deodorant cakes.

One of my FT friends has a teammate with CRPS, apparently affecting her vision, and my friend requested the link to the software I use to read the computer screen. But before I would even allow myself to look that up—I didn’t look for it online, but had the software in school, then had my state’s Blindness and Visual Services buy me my own as the license belonged to the school, so I had to uninstall when I graduated. A pain in the rear end, but…

Anyhow, back to CRPS. I hadn’t heard of it before, and neither had my friend, and she still doesn’t know what it is, “but it sounds awful”. Well… yes, I would have to agree, based on the following source information:

Whatever became of this? ONCE AGAIN, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
======
I got a call today from a woman—I think her name is Sarah—who’s going to look into someone to mentor me in writing and look at what I’ve already written. She asked me several questions, one of which was do I have a computer so I could work from home? And could I finish the courses for my Associate’s Degree online? And that one, I didn’t really answer, because I’d rather not do that—and I’m not sure if my computer would be compatible with the site, and…

Enough of that! The gist of the call was, she’ll see what she can come up with, and call me the week of the 20th.

I’ve been legally blind since age three, though symptoms started at one and a half. Yet, for all the tests, I’ve been given three different names, three separate diagnoses, only one of which can be correct.
So let’s enter the world of online knowledge, starting with the broadest diagnosis, Retinitis Pigmentosa, or RP:

======
PubMed Health, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, has this to say:
“…an eye disease in which there is damage to the
retina.”
“The disorder can be caused by a number of genetic defects.”
“The main sign
of the disease is the presence of dark deposits in the retina.”
“It is an uncommon condition affecting about 1 in 4,000 people in the United States.”
“Symptoms often first appear in childhood, but severe vision problems do not usually develop until early adulthood.
List of 3 items
• Decreased vision at night or in low light
• Loss of side (peripheral) vision, causing "tunnel vision"
• Loss of
central
vision (in advanced cases)” While reading this paragraph, I thought, “far fetched”. It seems to me whoever gave me that diagnosis—yes, it’s been so long since I saw an eye doctor I forget the names of these people—didn’t know what he was talking about, especially given that the other two sound similar to each other, but not to this one!

Let’s compare the other two, then: Leber’s Optic Atrophy and Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis. First off, according to ghr.nlm.nih.gov, “Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) is an inherited form of vision loss. Although this condition usually begins in a person's teens or twenties, rare
cases may appear in early childhood or later in adulthood. For unknown reasons, males are affected much more often than females.

When I was looking at this one before, it talked about heart defects being common. As nothing’s wrong with my heart, it seems reasonable to rule that out. But then I read something which immediately brought to mind my deteriorating balance:

“some people with Leber hereditary optic
neuropathy develop features similar to multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disorder that affects the brain and spinal cord (the central
nervous system), causing muscle weakness, poor coordination, numbness, and a variety of other medical problems.”
