First of all, what's up with the phrase "rules are rules"? It's either said by those who are too strict with their "enforcement of said "rules," or they're too lax.

Second I'd like to thank everyone reading this--and assure you, yet again, that my previous blogs having been deleted are completely and categorically my fault. **You did nothing *wrong.

Which brings me to another rant: why is it some people (nobody on here, I'm sure) can't accept responsibility for*anything. "If blame is to be going around... just don't look at me."

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Good for you, Gary. The same program’s been recommended to me before, as they say it works well with my screenreader. I just haven’t gotten it yet, but it’s definetly on my list (and I’m moving it up, as I seem to have forgotten for a time)

If you were in UK Jaymee i would have sent you my copy as it can be installed on 4 computers. But i was reccomended to AVG by a friend who is a IT/Computer expert, just back from Dubai installng a server and system for the finance minister there.

He will never steer me wrong.

I was told by someone that works at the company that makes my screenreader that it would work with my version of JAWS, as it'san older version. That was last year when compatibility between the antivirus software an the screenreader was an issue. From what he told me, I gather he has JAWS on his home computer, and AVG works fine.

Spoke to some woman also around the same time, but she didn't haveanything helpful to offer.

I don’t know why I don’t think of combinations such as this except rarely. One time, I poured some kind of Zweier’s soup on top of a container of Laudermilch’s meatloaf. Today, I combined one of their meatloaf with the macaroni and cheese from the chicken dinners from Zweier’s. MAN WAS THAT GOOD!

Mom came to test the computer, and everything seems fine :) We'll keep an eye on it, but appears that virus scare was just that: a scare

Meanwhile, will look into purchasing AVG and, at some point in future, will update flash player so I can continue watching online videos

Jazme so pleased it was just a scare least you can relax a little, no fun being stressed by messages like that.

Yes, Gary, that's certainly true.

The stress level went back up though when one of the six or seven "Symantech" error messages popped back up after I pressed enter to get rid of it. I get them after the computer boots up; I usually wait a few minutes, then press enter to clear. The other day, the one came back, followed closely by the "unexpected error," and then later the virus error. (That one's eliminated as an advert, but the others certainly aren't - they're error messages on **my *computer*. Something to keep an eye on - fortunately, everything else seems fine.)

Not sure what I did, but right leg hurts again. Could be back related, I don't know.

Georgette's calling later this morning. She's coming to celebrate her birthday tomorrow. That reminds me, must get the card out of the drawer.

Treated Georgette to lunch for her birthday. She got a large turkey salad and a two liter of diet soda; I got a large grilled chicken tenderloin sub with lettuce only (why do they insist on asking if I want mayonnaise when my order clearly indicates I don't? Then again, looks like I should specify "dry" from now on.)

Turned air off briefly, put back on due to headache being worse (smelled smoke over at the AC unit, then all the way over at the sink - technically, it's not a great distance, but I've never smelled it that far before)

Didn't realize until last night just how much I've read in the past two years

Looked for a list of what I'd read, and only found a partial one

Today found another title, so spent a while reflecting on that

So much of what I read can be traced to story ideas I have (that is, if I don't discard the book, short story or article because I find it boring)

Some of these are funny to look back on
======
I was playing the “harder religion mix” when one of the answer choices jolted my mind back to the day I was attempting to listen to “Angels and Ages,” or whatever that title was. The author was talking about Abraham Lincoln, and the controversy surrounding hisepithet, whether it says “now he belongs to the ages” or “now he belongs to the ages.” I commend the narrator of the book—I regret to report I don’t remember his name—for the expression in his voice as he said, “Where did that come from? There’s a Monty Python element here. I think it was, ‘blessed are the cheesemakers.’
Funny how one little phrase or word can jolt one’s memory. So, the question that sparked this little trip down memory lane? “The Beatitudes are a famous section of the Bible's "Sermon on the Mount", where Jesus lists off a series of blessed people. Which of these is one of
the Beatitudes?” Correct answer? “Blessed are the peacemakers”

Today when Grandma got to the apartment building, Sue rushed over to the door to open it. I had three packages: a catalog from Braille Institute, the quarterly “Special Collection” that allows me to order four books at a time; a ‘Science ‘News’ which, until I’m low on reading material, I’d rather not keep; and a catalog of books from the library called ‘Braille Book Review.’

I figured that, even though the “Special Collection” only needs to be sent in and postmarked by June 30, that it should be filled out now, so Grandma tore out the perforated printed sheet at the bac.k. The books are divided into sections; the ones I get are from the “Grades 7-9” and “General Interest.” Last time, there were no “general interest” that caught my attention, so I wound u[p ordering “Found,” “Endymion Spring,” “Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports,” and “The Short Seconnd Life of Bree Tanner”. Tbhis time, two of the “general interest” struck my fancy, so I ordered “Chains,” “The Warning,” “Justin Bieber” and “Of Thee I Sing”.

After securing tape around the order form, Grandma suggested going down for the mail. “Do you want to go down, or do you want me to?” I decided to go along, so we picked up the stuff in my mailbox: two credit card offers, a flyer for Food Land, and four digital books.
The Digital Books are from the Library for the Blind and come on cartridges. Last year, they sent me a Digital Talking Book Player and, while I could request books be sent to me, haven’t done so yet. That’s why some of the books, the ones I’ve tried to get into but can’t, end up going back without being read. One notable example was the one about Darwin and Lincoln, which seemed to go on and on and on. But there were others, like “Kitchen Privileges,” “The Wrecker,” “The Ghost King,” “Zeitoun,” “The Fire Kimono,” “Foundation,” and “Comfort and Joy” that got two or more readings out of it before being sent back.

So, what would I do with the four I received today? Like I’d told Grandma, “I’ll listen to the jacket information, but I can’t guarantee anything after that.” And now, to the books themselves:
- “Safe House,” a “Brilliance Audio,” yes
- “Just Take My Heart,” yes
- “Paws and Effect,” yes
- “The Spirit Lens,” yes

I’ve refused up till now to even attempt to pronounce the infection I had in my elbow. That the left one was infected was a given; that I later ended up getting a comfort sleeve for the right because I had a whatever in that one, too, was also well known.
I no longer shy away from saying it, having just done a few searches and wound up with it: olecranon cyst. And what prompted me to look it up today? Because the doctor told me the pain will dissipate, but right now there’s still substantial soft tissue swelling in the left arm as compared to the right.
