First of all, what's up with the phrase "rules are rules"? It's either said by those who are too strict with their "enforcement of said "rules," or they're too lax.

Second I'd like to thank everyone reading this--and assure you, yet again, that my previous blogs having been deleted are completely and categorically my fault. **You did nothing *wrong.

Which brings me to another rant: why is it some people (nobody on here, I'm sure) can't accept responsibility for*anything. "If blame is to be going around... just don't look at me."

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

The vet found Little Girl has some bruising on her neck, and some of the nerves are pinched. “He gave her a cortisone shot tho reduce the swelling… but he doesn’t know whether it got as bad as it did because the nerves were pinched or if there’s nerve damage. If there is, the damage will be permanent.”
At first, Grandma was unwilling to tell the vet what happened, but she knew she had to: “He told me he knew I wouldn’t hurt Little Girl because I love my cats.” Very true—each of her animals is like another kid. She’d do anything to defend her animals—and for that reason, I’m hoping she does press charges against Michelle, like the vet thinks she should do.

“The only reason I didn’t kick her out that night,” Grandma continued, “was because Michael was drunk. I knew he’d have a fit if I told her to go… But she’s never coming back here, that’s for sure.”

My initial impression was that Michelle seemed nice, but I knew my encounter with her wasn’t very long at all. It’s just a shame that it had to turn out this way.

MICHELLE'S ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO IS "FAKE," PRESENTING A SUPERFICIAL FACADE. THOSE PEOPLE MAKE ME UNCOMFORTABLE.

Grandma called back later. Her sister, Janice, knew she had taken Little Girl to the vet, but not the outcome. And so she filled her in: “She said, ‘I can’t believe someone would come into your house and do that.”’

Turns out Michael’s friend Virgil has known Michelle for ten years, and tried to dissuade Michael from bringing her to the picnic on the grounds that “she’ll behave like an a**,” which she did. Further details: her mother’s been diagnosed with Bipolar and Schizophrenia, and Michelle herself takes medication for seizures; and she had a sister die some time back—Virgil thinks she committed suicide. And to make it even more interesting: Michelle’s on probation for a DUI. “So,” Grandma concluded, “I don’t think she wants to get in trouble again while drunk.”
But sober or not, mental Illlness or not, there’s no excuse for what she did. “She won’t be given another chance to do this,” Grandma repeated several times. “If

There’s nothing like the sound of the fire alarm blaring to blast you out of bed, and that’s exactly what happened between 7:30 and 7:50 this morning.
When I heard the alarm, I went into full panic mode: hyperventilating and all that. Yet, somehow, I knew exactly what to do: put on my sneakers, the ones without laces, and stand at the door waiting for someone to come tell me what I was supposed to do. But no one came.

A little while later, Pam from downstairs called to tell me there’s a resident meeting next Thursday at 10:00 to discuss this morning’s drill “and you’re encouraged to attend”. Translation: “we can’t force you to show up, but it’s in your best interest to”. I remember something similar happening last year: simulated drill, meeting. Coincidence? I think not!

I finished the book I’ve been listening to, ‘Just Take My Heart,’ and it was really good. Apparently, Mom never heard of it.
In addition, I’ve had an idea for a new story. At the moment, it’s under the title “Untitled,” and if we’re going to be technical, the idea came to me yesterday, and I just started writing today. (IS IT... STOP! DON'T SAY ANOTHER WORD!)

I HONESTLY DON'T THINK ANYTHING CAME OF THIS (but I'm revisiting it)

- In ‘Kitchen Privileges,’ Mary Higgins Clark relates the advice she was given regarding how to write fiction, and that advice stuck with me.
- Last night after talking to Mom about Grandma and Little Girl, and what supposedly happened, I thought, “Suppose…” It was only a vague idea, nothing I could work with, and then more of the idea came to me today:

- “Suppose that a young woman’s accused of animal cruelty and charges are filed against her.Suppose she goes to jail for violating the terms of her perole. Then, let’s suppose that a relative of the one who accused her is unconvinced of her guilt and vows to uncover the truth.”
- Of course, just because that’s the story plan at this point doesn’t mean it’ll stay like that. After all, these stories seem to write themselves.

That latest gave me an idea for some other fictional stories.

Mom had planned to make stuffed shells today and come over, but she wasn't feeling wel so she didn't. She has another sinus infection and feels queasy. I guess it didn't help that she was out in the hot sun in hergarden with Elysha earlier. (Prior to that, she was watching tennis on the TV - the men's open - and nothing could interrupt her until it was over.)

Michael and Michelle stopped by to visit Mom on their way to pick up something to eat. I got to say "good night" to Michael, and then he hung up on me (itwas deliberte because when I called Mom, he asked if he hadn't just hung up on me).

Grandma's coming up for lunch tomorrow, and the word is the humidity's to be higher than today (yipee)

Mom didn't work today, she felt so lousy :(

Michael suggested they take a walk, so they're on the Rail Trail now

Mom brought over some eggs, sausage and vegetables, pizza and stuffed shells :)

I called Sue to report that I’d been smelling smoke on Saturday. Sue told me that Audrey continues to claim that she’s not smoking in the apartment. “I’m sorry, but do to the way our policy is worded, we need to catch them in the act.” She also said something about needing to prove it wasn’t in the furniture.
- I spoke to Mom, who thinks Audrey must have smoked on her furniture before moving here, and is now claiming that that’s where the smoke smell in her apartment is coming from.

Janet, one of the “nice” neighbors from the fourth floor, came up to ask if I’ve been hearing any late night noises. Unfortunately not, but it’s not as if I’m expecting to. But this means the drama isn’t over, and might boil over at an y point again. Like I said to Ethan later, “Phase two.”

My “favorite” neighbor from the same floor, A.K.A. the Neighbor from Hell, hasn’t been up to bother me since April. “She has everyone convinced the noise was you.” Yeah, not to mention that she’s “the nicest person,” or “everyone’s champion.” “Yeah, she’s Miss America.”

I wasn’t going to broach the subject, not tonight, and certainly not the way I did… `if not for the awful idea snaking through my mind like some deadly virus. It’s like I told Mom, “every now and then the question resurfaces, and until I know, I’m going to assume the worst.” And that “worst-case scenario keeps getting scarier and scarier the more I read. “You want to have this discussion over the phone, tonight,” Mom asked incredulously. Well… no. All I’m looking for is an assurance you won’t brush the subject under the rug like you have for the past 28 years.

I know better than to panic when receiving such a message. After all, it wasn’t that long ago that I downloaded one, or at least made the problem ten times worse. And I’m not fool enough to believe my computer’s not compromised just because I “ignored” the pop-up window, or that my system won’t crash. But I am confident that, by keeping my head, I didn’t make matters that mcuch worse.
Forget for a minute that the exact names of the viruses are different, or that this time it claimed Windows Security to be infected. The fact is that I still have no virus protection, so I shouldn’t be getting any messages like this.

Key parts of window:

“Name of virus,” “threat level”
- “AdvWare.Hotbar,” “High”
- “Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.fxf,” “Medium”
- “Backdoor.Win32.Haxdoor.gu,””High”
- “Adware.Win32.Look2me.ab,” “Critical”
- “Trojan.Qoologic,” High”

Suggested “fix,” “Click ‘start protection’ button to erase all threats.” Request denied. Manual shut-down; when that didn’t work, turned off power strip.

In my opinion, those who devise programs to destroy a person’s hard drive ought to be shot—and perhaps that punishment isn’t harsh enough!
