Do you think that life exists on other planets? I do. The universe is a big place. Surely Earth isn't the only planet with things living on it.

houston1127 The odds are certainly in favor of other life in the universe, aren't they?

Depends. There are various formulas that can be used to show that other intelligent life is a near certainty, and others that show that we are very probably unique. I'm fairly skeptical about ETI.

Yes. There is life on other planets in this HUGE universe. Yes

Greatguggly Very unlikely that we'll ever know and I think you can chalk up us visiting them as an impossibility. The distances involved are incredible. The nearest star besides the sun is 4 light years away, I think. That's 23,462,784,000,000 miles, which at the fastest a manned spacecraft has ever traveled (30,000 mph) would take roughly 90,000 years to cover.

We'll use generation starships to reach those destinations.

Greatguggly George Jetson had one hell of a commute.

nautilator We've only recently discovered hundreds of planets outside of our solar system, because they're so incredibly small compared to the rest of the universe... We will find life on some of them, eventually.

I think it would be very naive of us to think that we are the only ones in the entire Universe. Though I think that it is highly likely that there is life in other parts of the Universe, I do not think that it is likely that we will ever have any contact with them. I also think it is very unlikely that life on other planets looks anything like us (people that is). Just because we live like we do, does not mean that it is impossible for other kinds of life to live on planets that are uninhabitable by us. Just thinking about the amazing types of creatures that live along the deepest parts of the ocean floor...It's incredible. So in sum, I definitely think there is life on other planets, in other solar systems, and galaxies, in our wide expanse of a Universe.

The fact they haven't visited us proves they are intelligent.

It is said that there is another Earth out there, where we each have a twin. Interesting. Would be very strange to meet another me. The movie, Another Earth, is very good.

I agree with mountaingoat.

Right on, Mtgoat is correct. If they've ever noticed us at all they probably shook their multiple heads sadly and passed by..
at Warp 9 down the rabbit hole.
Does anyone know if the 'laws of physics' apply to the entire universe? If they do, then there is very likely a great deal of variety in other planets' life forms just like here.

Maybe there are other forms of life in our solar system as well. After all, the string theory states that there 11 dimensions in our universe.

Like a friend of mine once told me: 'Have you ever spoken to a roach? You just kill it or avoid it simply because you consider it a filthy inferior being. Maybe this is how other forms of life see us humans as well' :)

Greatguggly Yes but chances are the roach notices you and runs for his life.

Maybe we still haven't developed fully awareness of what we perceive as reality and thus, we cannot run :))

Greatguggly The way some people think about "p-word" makes me believe there is indeed life elsewhere and that they've been here for some time and are sabotaging our system. I can't prove it yet, but I'm working on it.

Judging by some of the people I have come into contact with I suspect half of them are here already LOL
