Unlike shorthumbz, my cat is decidedly Unhelpful when I'm at the computer.
You see, each moment I pay attention to the screen is a moment I'm not paying attention to him. And that's very rude of me.

Talk about bad ideas...here in Nevada, there are large areas of open range for cattle. A local rancher has changed to all black Angus cattle. He put 1700 cattle out a few weeks ago and now my 30 minute commute after work has got too interesting. Nothing like trying to see black cows on a blacktop highway with no moon :-0

We bought a new house about five years ago. I love to garden, and am slowly building flower beds. Unfortunately, this means digging with a pick axe. You see, we are downhill from an escarpment, and underneath a couple of inches of top soil, it's 90% shale and limestone. Surprisingly, I'm making progress.

Something amazing happened to me recently...I slipped on a icy spot and fell down some basement stairs. About 15 stairs, there were. The amazing part is "not a scratch." I sat there shocked for a minute, but I fell I. Just a way where nothing hit the wrong way. Stood up and I was just fine.

I had great fun a day or two ago, watching my cat watch some birds right outside the window by my computer. She kept trying to climb to the top of the window. The birds were quite oblivious, only flew away when they saw me!

My story is rather a lame one but i have this challenge to complete that requires one so I will relate what I find to be the most effective method for getting my cat to come out of deep hiding and I stumbled upon it quite by accident. I simply phone my sister and in the course of our conversation some heart and loud laughter is bound to erupt. Erika loves to be close by for that. Perhaps she likes to hear what's so funny too? Anyway, more than once she has emerged from under the sofa, sometimes after being there for 10-12 hours and sits beside me while we talk and laugh. End of "story", such as it is!

I have learned a valuable lesson on this site. Playing on a team has some issues. You have to be careful how you word something or it will be interpreted the complete opposite of what you meant and feelings get hurt and people get mean, nasty, and snarky. Politics and religion should never become an issue. Making rude comments about a persons home country should also be avoided. Making fun of a strangers intelligence is just plain mean. This site is meant to be a fun place, let us try a little harder to make it so. Peace and goodwill to all.

Hello!
My family and I were on a fabulous holiday in the USA and were at Graceland (we're Aussies). We were in one of the queues and to our horror, we realised our daughter, who has an ASD, had failed to put her video camera in the locker, because videoing at Graceland is strictly prohibited. With the whole queue staring at us, some security people showed us back to the lockers, where I accidentally put a dime instead of a quarter in the locker and nearly fused the entire locker system. Was my face red!! We loved the visit, though, and the whole holiday was excellent!!!!

My exciting story is that after 5 years of trying to have a baby I am now the proud mother of a beautiful baby girl. I didn't know what love really meant until I layed eyes on her for the first time...she is absolutely beautiful and the best thing that has ever happened to me!!

Saturday. to alieviate the bordem that is McMurdo Station, Antarctica, we will be hosting a Prom...with a Big Top Theme. I really don't know how to think about that. I don't have a date, but everyone here do act like they are in high school.

So far today what have i done .... got up, had a shower, got dresses, checked the emails, checked Facebook updates, done the Team Games now I'm looking at Challenges. We are going to get a Christmas Tress later on then the Volunteer Party at Martin Mere where we volunteer. It is a Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre in Lancashire, UK. At present there are thousands of Whooper Swans overwintering before returning to Iceland in the spring to breed. A fantastic sight!

A funny thing happened to me on the way to the forum! This great ugly Brutus came to to me and said, "Hail Caesar!" and I replied, "No, you fool, not while I'm reining!" Well that's not true actually, but on the basis that this is most likely a 'write only' thread and folks only visit to complete a Daily Challenge, I thought I'd risk it :)

A few Christmases back, when she was about 17, my learning disabled daughter (who still believes in Santa) included a 4" plastic 'Robot Boy' figure on her (long!) list to Santa. No problem thought I, after checking the Cartoon Network merchandise site where it was available for £2.50, and I assured her several times - since she kept asking! - that Santa would indeed bring it for her.
However shortly after ordering it (with other CN stuff) I got a message saying it was no longer available! I checked several other toy sites, but the only place it was available was on Ebay as an auction item.
I don't know if there were other parents that year as desperate as I was to make sure that their child's belief in Santa wasn't crushed, but the bid price for this £2.50 figure kept rising ... and rising ...
Thirty seconds before the auction closed ... at 4.30 in the morning! ... I threw in a final bid, and Robot Boy was successfully mine ... for the price of £46 plus p&p!!
Year later and it sits unnoticed on my daughter's bedroom shelf - possibly the most expensive piece of Chinese plastic ever, ounce for ounce! But I still remember the look of pleasure on her face that Christmas morning when she saw it standing on the living room table!
That memory comes to mind as I'm locked in another Ebay auction battle this Christmas to buy Bella's engagement/wedding rings props from the 'Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2' franchise!! My daughter's 22 now. Santa won't let her down! :)

Hope whoever reads this is not eating. I got up this morning to find sewage all over my front garden. When I investigated I found hat the main sewer had collapsed causing a blockage in the pipe. What a way to start the day!
