If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

BarbaraMcI Applying for a new job. If I get it, I won't be eligible for vacation for a whole year. But it might be worth it, because it will cut my daily commute from 2.5 hours to about 20 minutes each way.

After some conversations with my family members, I'm recalling a Klinger quote from a M*A*S*H episode:
"It's no wonder I never got a Section Eight; there's nothing special about me. Everybody here is crazy!"

It was the case of the vanishing Christmas presents. When I was 8, every Christmas present I opened and set down beside my seat mysteriously vanished. I was baffled. Only later as we watched the video (thanks dad for buying into the 1980's video recorder craze) did I realize that my younger brother and sister (twins and about 14 months old) were carrying them off while I was distracted with other things. we managed to track them all down but the memory is still cherished 25 years later.

Our pet cat, Tigger, gave birth to a single kitten and did not survive the experience. We kept Iggy, the kitten, alive by taking turns feeding him with milk and water from one of my daughter's baby doll sets. When Iggy was a few weeks old our male dog, an English setter named Peter, became the kitten's "mother" bathing him daily and sleeping every night with the kitten between his paws and his chin resting on his "baby". We have many pictures of this. Iggy lived to be 18 and never behaved like a cat. He had the personality of a dog and was loved by everyone who met him. Perhaps this proves that nurture outweighs nature.

I just found out this morning that the Rankin & Bass "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" Christmas special that I have enjoyed for so many years actually had a different ending when it was first shown in 1964. In the original, the scene where Santa picks up the misfit toys from the island was not shown. Instead there was a scene where Yukon Cornelius discovers a peppermint mine by Santa's workshop. This is why throughout the show he throws his pickax in the air and then pulls it out of the ground and licks it. It was always a mystery to me why he was licking his ax, now I know.

pusdoc In my family, there was a running contest to disguise presents by wrapping them such that the package contents could not be easily discerned. Being of a certain age, LPs were the item most frequently gifted and most frequently disguised. One year, I wrapped one for my mom into a trapezoidal package by placing the Sears catalogue on top. She went crazy looking for the dang catalogue, so I was probably hoisted on my own petard, missing anything she might have purchased for me from Sears. Another year my dad wrapped LPs inside snow tires, which I accidentally knocked over like a series of dominos when I went tiptoeing down to check out the tree at about 4AM. Everyone got up early that year.

SAPHIREQT2 Ok well, one of the worst things happened to me today:

I had two tests today - Spanish during 7th period & Geometry during 10th - as well as a volleyball game from 8th period to 10th(if necessary), that's a lot to handle and ALL IN ONE DAY! ='( but that's not even the worst part. The worst part was that in the morning, I ended up getting my period. Oh, and what's weird is that I actually remember having a dream last night of me actually GETTING my period and that SO should have been a sign, but somehow I just NEVER SAW IT COMING! Well, that's my story. Hope you guys enjoyed it & maybe I'll post my test results on here as well. =)

One night I pulled into a motel in Pascagoula, MS. After getting settled in the room I opened a beer and started to read the local paper I'd picked up at the desk. There was an article about a woman who had been killed the prior week at a local motel. The killer had not yet been caught, there was no "reason" that authorities knew of for the killing, and so forth. I shook my head and thought, "Didn't I pass that motel on my way here?". I got up to see if I could see the name of the motel on a sign perhaps down the road. I saw it, all right...directly over the parking lot. I was staying in that SAME motel. What sleep I got that night was with all my undies on, including panty hose, with my clothes ready to grab!

mapcena I guess the most interesting thing that has happened to me recently is that I got interested in the Twilight saga. I do admit that it started a while ago...
At the end of February, I was looking through a movie catalog and noticed a good looking guy on the section about newly released on DVD. I started reading the description of the movie and it interested me. So that weekend I rented the first three of the movies and fell in love with the series after watching just the first one. I didn't like the second one as much but the third was good too. At the beginning of the following week, I went to the library and checked the books out. I have read them all and though I only got to see the last movie in the theater, I am certain that by the end of the week that the final movie is released on DVD, I will have purchased all of the movies and the books. The really interesting thing about this is that I normally avoid monster-type movies but when I went to see the last one I got interested in a movie coming out next year called Warm Bodies. This new movie is a zombie movie and I'm starting to wonder if it might be the beginning of a new trend for me.

I tried to lose weight by exercising for many years.Instead of losing I gained more weight. The longer the time I exercised the more I ate. However, last month I stopped eating meat, anything sweet, white rice and less chicken. I eat more fish, vegetables and seafood. I have lost over 3 kgs already. I still do some workout though.

Today was the first day of a two week holiday. I spent it catching up on a long list of things I hadn't had time for in the hectic weeks at the end of the school year - took the dogs to the vet for their annual checkup, visited the chiropractor after having had to postpone my regular monthly appointment week after week since October, got to the shop where I can buy my favorite hemp-based hand cream that was almost empty, got my hair cut after 6 months of it getting longer and curling uncontrollably - I can see again!

I finished all my Christmas shopping today. It was still crazy with everybody out and about everywhere, but feels good to be done.

In Armenia, the traditional Christmas Eve meal consists of fried fish, lettuce, and spinach. The meal is traditionally eaten after the Christmas Eve service, in commemoration of the supper eaten by Mary on the evening before Christ's birth.

Well it's past 11.11am UK time and I'm still here, so I guess the end of the world didn't come. That's good really because I'm still in Knockout.

mcsurfie Some may have seen an earlier thread about a decision I had to make about whether or not to replace a pet mouse I had that died. Well given that mice were hard to come by I got two dwarf Russian hamsters, and have named them Chubby and Jethro after two British stand up comedians.
Both are mental as anything, trying to barge each other off their excerise wheel.

As for my Syrian Hamster Splodge he has a much larger cage to live in now, and can no longer just reach up and lift himself up to get his food. Now he has to climb to the top and get some exercise.

Why is gun control such a difficult issue? Military vs. hunting weapons ban is a no brainer. No hunter requires a multiclip magazine and military style weapons need to be banished for non military persons.
