If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Me and my wife both work for the same company, and each of us got $1000 bonuses for the holiday season. But after deductions, the bonuses were listed under overtime for whatever reason, we got less than $600 each! Boohoo for us, or lucky to have a job?

Woke up this morning to the first snow of the season. Everything covered in white. Lovely now. Will be glad if that's all we get till the same time next year!

I miss my sister. She was known as Aunt Dinah on the trivia site. We joined about the same time, and loved to brag about badges to each other. She passed away last august.

The countdown is on to Christmas Day in my house. I've resigned myself to the "all-Christmas" radio station now.

It still amazes me how ingrained many of the lyrics to traditional Christmas songs are. I catch myself singing them word-for-word without even thinking.

Curious to know if anyone else feels this way but- is the song "The Christmas Shoes" not one of the saddest, most depressing tunes of all time? I actually turn it off when it come on. Maybe I'm just getting old...since I've accepted that Chipmunks can be a part of the Christmas music tradition I guess I have no moral leg to stand on judging other songs now do I?

harryofarabia Two blokes were camping in a farmer's field as part of a walking holiday. The location was the middle of nowhere
and the nearest pub was a long walk to the nearest village. The walk to the pub in the evening was of course a brisk one. However, on leaving the pub some hours later, the men decided that cutting across the fields would be a good shortcut back to the tent. It was pitch dark, with no street lighting in the countryside. Half way across the field they almost fell down a huge hole that they assumed was for drainage. The beer obviously made the blokes curious so they looked for things to throw into the hole to gauge how deep it was. They found some small stones but on throwing them in they could not hear them land on anything and looked for something bigger. On searching around one of them found what looked like an old railway sleeper. So taking an end each they struggled to the side of the hole and threw it in. As they both peered down the hole waiting for an impact noise, they heard chains rattling and a sort of animal noise. All of a sudden the goat that had been chained to the sleeper disappeared down the hole. The blokes had an early start
the next morning and were long gone before the farmer's household were awake!

Humanist

I am applying for membership in my local chapter of the Elks Club. Much of my social life has centered around the club where runners meet and trivia nights are scheduled.

One of the requirements is that you believe in "God" which I do not. But I am a life member of the American Humanist Association. I consider myself "good without god".

This is an interesting story: I have been proposed for membership and will undergo a process of scrutiny. It will be interesting to see what happens: I'll let you know.

Cheers, Chevy

Today I go Christmas shopping for my wife as all other shopping is now complete. Its all about her even though I've picked up a few things already. Each year I have to buy her a Santa of some kind to add to her collection.

Buddy1 The world didn't end at all yesterday! (Not that I believed it would.) I wonder what people who believed the world would end then are thinking. (Also, my calendar runs out on December 31. I wonder if the world is going to end then. :) )

Terapins68 Went to see Handel's Messiah last night at Nashville Symphony. Had never seen the whole thing (now I know I had only seen the fun Hallalujah chorus part in the past).
So the chorus comes and
--everyone jumps to their feet. Who knew??
And it is great and fun and spiritual........
--but the even doesn't end then. It goes on and on.
Handel for sure needed an editor.
Did this great thing and then didn't have enough sense to know it was over.

The way life goes....
Three and a half years without a sick day at work, I go on leave and within two days end up in hospital. Nothing serious, but I would have liked to at least have some sick days instead of eating up my annual leave! As someone said, some days you're the windshield, other days the bug...

Yes Ranger, that's what we have planned to. A day at the beach for Christmas prawns,a barbie and a swim (with a bit of beach cricket too). Pretty much a traditional Aussie Christmas!

This is the way the world ends. Not with a Mayan Apocalypse, but with a stampede at Wal-Mart.

What a zoo there today!

The better half is away at her daughter's place for the night, so I am playing quizzes, drinking beer and watching Paul Simon in concert on the TV (it is really, really loud!).

After not being ill for multiple years, I was blind-sided by a cold of nasty proportions.

The dilemma was should I go to the doctor and also get the flu that is going around or just hide in the house.

I'm hiding in the house. From what I've heard, the flu is beating people up and is 24-72 hours of misery.

Ah-choo! Sorry! :)

SAPHIREQT2 So, I think I might be falling for one of my guy friends - yet again! It's so complicated, because I have a boyfriend, even if he's not here & it's more like a long-distance relationship & here I am falling for a guy that I have lunch with & is younger than me - he's a freshman & I'm a sophomore. I know, I know age doesn't matter - I think I know that better than anyone else does - but still, that's just so...WEIRD! God, I'm in a mess - AGAIN! =(

Today (Dec. 23) I saw a butterfly! Granted, the weather is unusually warm for this time of the year, but a butterfly in winter?
