I have five colored pens to me left, and a notebook. They are for a puzzle. To my right is a phone. To e behind is a wall. To my front is my sister and friends. Annoying. To my above is ceiling. To my below is my chair.
And that's my day!

I am relaxing tonight and watching "A Muppets Christmas Carol". It is my favorite version of this classic Dickens tale.

Winter
The snow so softly pattered
A white whisper in my ear
Floating iridescent
So quiet but so near.
Filling up the landscape
With wondrous clouds of white
Sparkling in the sunlight
Dancing in moonbeams at night.
An artist's brush could never paint
Such a wondrous scene
God washed the world in cristals
Cold and fresh and clean.

I was talking with an old friend (43 years) on the phone tonight and remembering old times.
Back in the sixties there was professional wrestling in our small town every Saturday night at the local National Guard Armory.
My friend who was still in his early teens went around back to try and get an autograph from some of the wrestlers after the the show.
Low and behold two wrestlers who had been calling each other names and acting like they were going to kill each other in the ring an hour or so ago walked out and got in the front seat of the same car and drove off together.
My friend was so stunned he forgot to ask for any autographs and rode his bicycle home with his boyish illusions shattered.
Just goes to show things are not always as they seem to be.

I bought a ukulele a year ago because my guitars were destroyed in a fire and I wanted something to tinker with like I had done with the guitars since my early twenties. Something strange happened when I picked the little guy up, I wanted to play with others and learn the capabilities of the tiny wonder I possessed. I joined a club and now play every weekend. Sometimes we play in public at events or at hospitals and institutions. I just bought my seventh uke last weekend but managed to pass my first one to my Nieces for Christmas...I hope they have as much fun as I am.

I'm so happy that I found this site almost two years ago as I learn new things every day. Today I played a quiz on different types of bagpipes and learned about 10 instruments I didn't know existed. I appreciate all of the writers who find such a variety of interesting topics to write quizzes on.

I went to the Huddersfield Town vs Sheffield Wednesday match yesterday where a strange thing happened...
the referee appeared to show the yellow card to the same player Wednesday player twice! When quizzed about it by several Town players and management he was adamant that he had not got it wrong!

A wet Sunday in December - just about to take the pack of dogs out for a trudge in the mud. Bigger ones are ok but the shortest has problems whem the mud is thick and slurry like.

Between my oldest brother going to grad school, and my other brother paying more attention to his children and allowing them to not see my parents, I am the favorite child and I like it.

We got 10" of snow in NH this past Thursday and another 5" last night. I'm sick of the snow already.

Despite asking my team at work not to get me anything more expensive than jelly beans for Christmas, they pitched in and made a donation to an wild animal rehab center on my behalf. When I told my daughter, she was very bitter -- she had done the same thing! People apparently know me very well ;-)

When I was in College I had a beautiful Timber Wolf that I rescued in North Carolina. He was a hard pup to train but turned into the most beautiful and faithful companion I have ever had. That was many many years ago....I said after "Storm" I would never have another wolf.....boy did that change in a moment of insaneness this weekend. I was invited up to meet a litter of 8 husky/wolf hybrids and I fell in love with a wee 8-week old cub that I have named Kodi......the crazy part of the story is that he really did not want to be separated from his big sister so Zira came home with me too.....The family just grew a little bit bigger and my sleep schedule suddenly has diminished.....but I am so excited to have a pack again :)

As our annual treat to ourselves, we are running a LOTR marathon. We have the extended versions of all three movies, and did Fellowship last night. Tonight it will be The Two Towers and tomorrow for New Year's Eve it will be The Return of the King. We'll do hors d'oeuvres, and something to drink, and snuggle in for the evening.

On the note of new jobs, I am also starting a new job in February. Now just to get through another month of the crankiness of the old one....

I just wanted to share that, for three hours on Christmas Eve, a neighbour and I were using a drill-driven pump and the wet-suck option of a Vax to empty sewer water out of a drain via a large manhole to allow me to rod said drain to clear a blockage.
This is the third time I've had to do this (last time was 02 Jan 2012, the day before I was due to go back to work) and I think I really need to ask my neighbours not to flush clioth facial tissues down the toilet.
It is NOT the way you want to spend your Christmas.

Found out today that my brother-in-law is receiving the MBE in the New Years Honours List. Well, I was impressed anyway.

This last week I remet a girl that I dated in college about 40 years ago. After hugs and a couple of quick kisses we learned we were both single again and the possibilities are endless. What a Day!!
