Last week, I got an iPhone 5 and ordered a car charger to help charge it. Tonight, it arrived in a package. Now, my wife just asked me whether I want to buy a phone car charger at a discount as part of an online deal. Oops...

My tale for the morning--I'm out of fresh ground coffee. Sipping on the backup brew--freeze-dried version.

I am fortunate to have a job where I get to travel to different countries. A separate joy is getting to meet some of my FT friends usually within Australia. Now I'm going to the States and Canada in May, looking forward to catching up with some of my international friends

I am really enjoying the daily challenges and have a renewed love of this site! It's always been great, but I love the thought that a new challenge awaits every day. Well done!

I am so glad things are back to normal after the Christmas break. I'm not a Scrooge or anything but it seemed to last for ever!

I have just finished rereading "Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie. I read it when I was a kid. I am really struck by the stereotypes/generalizations expressed by her characters. Americans are loud and abrasive, and likely to use guttural slang. Italians are hot-blooded and are more likely to use "the knife". THe English are more aloof and reserved. Lower socio-economic class people are more likely to break down emotionally. It's not really a criticism, but just an observation of the probable way that others were viewed at that time.

I have handsome twin boys, Mitchell and Mackenzie, just turned 2 in october and they have been diagnosed as Autistic. Quite a scary prospect for a father, but they are both unique and have their own wee personalities and frankly, i wouldnt swap them for the world.
Always unique, totally individual.
Love you wee men.xxx

My 7 year old daughter made a ceramic vase at school for my wife's birthday. I decided to help her paint it using my wife's favorite colors as a surprise. It was beautiful, and my daughter was sooo excited.
While wrapping the vase together, I knocked it off the table.....
Broke in six pieces
UUGGGHHHHHHHHHHH !

Today my best friend told me to take living in Australia for a year or two into consideration. It wouldn't be until 2014.
A lot can change in a year. :s

I became a Sam's Club member yesterday. It was one of the things on my bucket list. I know it is eerie to put items on a bucket list, but, I did anyway. One item on my bucket list was to go to Sam's Club and I did that for the first time in 2010. Next up going to the Mall of America in Minnesota.

Lots of snow here since last night - about 8 inches. My dainty little arms are ready to fall off from the shovelling.

I have wild turkeys in my yard every day. Yes they can be really messy, but they are hilarious to watch. The flock numbers about fifteen or more birds depending on if the males are there. Today I went out to throw them their usual corn and I slipped on the ice and knocked myself out for a bit. When I woke up (not out but a few seconds, I think)the turkeys were leaning over genuinly looking concerned. Oh, not for me, but for their food. I had to laugh!

I go to pick up my father to take him home from the Retirement Home. He's been there the last month for rehab. I hope everything turns out well.

My Alaska host Bill told me this story from several years ago when he went fishing with a University of Connecticut professor and his father. The three men chartered a boat, and the novice professor got a bite. As he tried to reel it in, he believed he had snagged something on the bottom of the inlet. He asked for help, and an hour and a half later, the three men hoisted a 350-pound halibut onto the boat. This stunned UConn educator made the record book with a trophy catch, and Bill was there to help and witness the event.
