On my third cup of coffee as I sit and think about what I can get done today as we have a snow day here in Michigan due to an ice storm. This is our 4th such day for this school year.

My cat, Jack, loves to steal freshly washed socks from the laundry basket. He struts around with a pair in his mouth, dragging them between his front legs, like a leopard with a kill. He always looks very pleased with himself when he does this, like he really thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. It's even better when he meows with the socks in his mouth -- sounds funny!

I'm laying here looking out the window in brianhead, Utah. Ready to go skiing today in 8 degree temps. I love skiing but don't really like cold weather.
Wish me luck!

In the same line, I'm living in Brussels, Belgium and it's been quite a warm winter so far, but I just heard yesterday that Jerusalem, more than 1600 miles south-east of here, is under a nice blanket of SNOW...

I found a way to get rid of year old outdoor and sports magazines. Took them to local nursing home and donated to their reading room. They were delighted and asked for all future ones I get. Feels good to brighten someones day.

There's a quiz show on tv in the UK called Eggheads and it was on tonight. I wasn't really watching but my ears pricked up when I heard my neighbour's name mentioned in a quiz question. I know the guy quite well - he edits a newspaper and is a semi-public figure I guess and I have seen him on tv in news programs and so on. None of that impressed me so much as him being in a question on an early evening low budget BBC quiz show though.

Time to share another story.
I'm officially back on the wagon with diet and fitness. I've probably gained 10 lbs over the Christmas break. I'm usually a pretty active person, but I hate cold weather and tend to hole-up for the winter.
I'm on day two of 20-30 minute daily workouts. I'm going to be so sore tomorrow...

Nemesis was so easy the first couple of times I got it, when I had not yet passed my first FT birthday. My first opponent had only registered on the FT site two days earlier. My second had made 500 points the day before and again the day of the Nemesis challenge. Unfortunately, once I became a veteran, I have been matched against aggressive competitors, and usually I get the Nemesis on days when I spend many hours at work, like today. Oh well. I'll do what I can, and make the other guy work if he wants to win.

I took me four years to finally get my fireplace fixed properly in my house which I bought four years ago. Same day I get it fixed i become to sick to bring in wood to use it. I am finally feeling better so I brought plenty of wood inside and piled on porch. Now it is 65 degrees and I don't need a fire LOL. Go figure. At least It is fixed and ready to go when it decides to be below freezing again.

I'm glad the NHL lockout is over. As soon as football season is over, I look forward to both the NHL and March Madness basketball to carry me until baseball season and next football season. My team should be pretty good in the NHL this year, so hopefully they mesh and the short season isn't a hindrance.

My three cats all woke me up this morning by practising their gymnastic skills on the bed. I told them my bed was not a trampoline, but would they listen?

I'm trying to come up with a flavor of mead to make. My boyfriend is going to do pineapple jalapeno. I'm thinking blackberry. It may turn out good even if it is dryer than I like it.

it was my birthday a few days ago and a friend and i decided to make this fancy cake called "dacquoise" to celebrate. it's got no flour but a layer of meringues and chocolate and butter cream. after staying up until 1 a.m. last night to wait for the meringues to bake, we figured we'd have to resume today. this cake had better be good, because we're putting another late night tonight to complete it!

I went today to a mountain resort. Snow everywhere, a little frosty, clear sky, a horse sleigh ride and then a glass of wine and a good laugh with my friends. A perfect moment.
