If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

God created the heavens and the earth, and rested. Then God created man, and rested. Then god created woman, since then, neither god nor man has rested.

starlacat I have to say I know the one of the most amazing people I'll ever meet. He had an amputation of the lower 2/3 of his right leg because of Diabetes. After many trials and tribulations, he finally received his temporary prosthesis 1 week ago. Without ANY type of therapy since he received his temporary, he is able to walk with a cane,(sometimes without), and function on TWO legs since June. He is 52 years old.

My son recently got me my first cell phone. He showed me how to text, how to listen to voice mail, how to take pictures, and how to call people. My phone rang today. He forgot to show me how to answer a phone call.

Today was a beautiful summer day, even though it's October, here in Georgia. The leaves are yellow and brown. I don't think they will be turning red this year before falling. I just relaxed and watched my teams, Georgia Tech and Georgia play football. Actually I fell asleep on both games. I really waited all day to see my favorite team ,Ohio State, but the game did not come on here in Atlanta. That was my day. Hope you all had a good day!

I'm a quite regular casual player of Magic the Gathering, so yesterday was "buy some serious amount of the new expansion" day for me. Thankfully, unlike the last few round, this times my pulls were excellent - both the planeswalkers and a decent smattering of other powerful cards. Couldn't it always be like this... :)

I am currently going thru Shakespeare and all his works. Hamlet, the one i'm reading now, i thought would be simple, is like most of the Bards works,so packed with meaning that one reading, or even two is not enough.
It is a labor of love.

I have two great teenaged kids. Whenever I am having a bad day, all it takes is a hug from one of them to make me realize how fortunate I am. My Mom recently fell and broke her hip and her smile when I visit at the hospital always reminds me how truly important the love of family is. These are the things I will be thinking of as I prepare dinner for 17 family members this Thanksgiving (Canada - Oct. 8).

chriswatts I'm goiung to be a bit gruppy here.

This is the second time I've had this challenge in 4 days.

I'm running out of stories.

But that's a story in itself, chris!
Here's mine - when my first grandson was about five, I gave him a toy watch, which he enjoyed very much, always wanting people to ask him the time so he could study the watch and make up an answer. I found him engrossed in some cartoon on t.v. one day, and finally broke in to ask him the time. Without even looking at his watch or shifting his eyes from the screen, he announced that it was seven o clock...six central.

Sorry, if explanation is needed, we are on eastern standard time, and the next time zone is central, one hour behind us, so t.v. announcers often will add the 'central time' when advertising a show coming on soon.

My large dog is a natural comic. When riding in the car, she likes to stand on the center console and stick her head out of the sun roof.

The best and most civil way to have a fight between husband and wife:

WIFE:
I wrote your name on sand it got washed.
I wrote your name in air, it was blown away.
Then I wrote your name on my heart & I got Heart Attack.

HUSBAND:
god saw me hungry, he created pizza.
He saw me thirsty, he created Pepsi.
He saw me in the dark, he created light.
He saw me without problems, he created YOU.

WIFE:
Twinkle twinkle little star
You should know what you are
And once you know what you are
Mental hospital is not so far

HUSBAND:
The rain makes all things beautiful.
The grass and flowers too.
If rain makes all things beautiful
Why doesn't it rain on you?

WIFE:
Roses are red; Violets are blue
Monkeys like u should be kept in a zoo.
Don't feel so angry you will find me there too
Not in cage but outside, laughing at you

pyonir Let me start by saying I live in Minnesota. So for the last year or so, at night, we've been hearing these odd screaming sounds. I live in a relatively rural area. At first we thought cat. Nope, can't be, it's different. I've scoured the internet trying to think of local animals, ruling out, skunks, fox, deer, raccoon, birds, coyote, among others. Late one night about 2 weeks ago, I finally saw what it was. It was a Virginia Possum. I've never seen one in Minnesota and never would have believed they are in the state until I saw it with my own eyes. It's a common screech/scream they do when notifying that they own the territory to keep intruders out. Mystery solved!

Dear FunTrivia Diary,

My wife used to ask me to tell her a story.

This is the one I told her:

"A man was born, he lived and he died!"

Doesn't that just about sum it all up?

Now, that's a true story, but my wife took it in fun.

No, seriously, I will return with another story, but I have to go hike to the top of Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire with my son today - like right now. Perhaps a story about today's hike or our hiking odyssey a bit later? See you in twelve hours!

Cheers, Chevy

P.S. This was written to satisfy a medium Daily Challenge. Do we also receive points for this? I guess I will find out!

Once when I was a student in Paris, I took the suburban train to visit my parents for the weekend. I failed to notice there was a particular sign that should have put me on my guard:

There were no other passengers in my car, but I thought nothing of it, since it was noon on a Saturday. After a slight delay in the schedule, the train left the station. I noticed it was slower than usual. After a few minutes, it stopped and reversed its direction. Soon I found myself in an unknown marshalling yard.

I was trapped in this weird, abandoned place. The gate was closed, and there were no workers around. I couldn't leave the place and it felt a bit surreal, kafkaesque almost. Finally, I found someone that could open the gate for me. I took the suburban train back to the Montparnasse station, and I have never overlooked the "Part of the train not leaving the station" sign again.
By the way, if you are in Paris some day and want to take a trip to Chartres in order to see the gothic cathedral (well worth the visit!), you are forewarned: beware the aforementioned sign!
That was a life lesson for me: never ride a train when you're the only person in the passenger car... :)

Ilona_Ritter I have a cat named Grizabella the Glamour Cat (yes named after the cat in "Cats"). We call her Bella for short. She is so cute, and often acts like a dog. I once walked to the store and she followed me. She waited outside and then returned with me. That was when I was living in TX and she roamed free. Here in NY she only goes out on a leash.
