If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Today I had two bits of financial good luck.

I won the top prize of £25 at our bowls club Bingo session, and the the team I was on won the quiz.

Four days after the snowstorm in the Northeast, our street still has not been plowed by the town. If it were not for a private contractor who needed to get to his client at the end of our street, we would not even have a small path to exit our street.

The other day my red tom lay dozing on a chair next to me when out of the corner of my eye I saw.... a mouse, drinking from his water bowl/

Today is Ash Wednesday. One of the interesting things about Ash Wednesday each year is noticing how people react to seeing someone who looks unusual in some way. Walking around the street with a mark on my forehead I got lots of puzzled stares and two "oh, it's Ash Wednesday, I totally forgot!" Which is better than last year, when two colleagues announced brashly "you have dirt all over your face".

Idunn3 I recently purchased a new phone. I was having trouble setting it up. I called customer service. The customer service rep., although very amiable, had a very thick accent. I had a cold at the time and wasn't very easy to understand either! We went on for about 30mins, barely able to understand one another. Finally I got the info I needed, thanked him, and hung up.
I then turned to my Pekingese (yes, I talk to my dog)) and asked the dog: "why, with all the unemployment in this country, do American companies torture customers with reps who struggle with English?"
I then heard this: "Hello ma'am? I am still on the phone ma'am. If you would like, I can tell you how to hang up your phone."

In view of tomorrow being Valentine's Day (14th), I thought folks might like to see this great little clip I came across today titled "What is Love?"

In a world obsessed with romantic love, and with the notion of falling in and out of love, it's wonderful to see a couple who have a very different point of view.

Though I am not an American I stayed up to watch Obama's State of the Union Address last evening. It was pretty cool. Aside from all of the standing ovations (which were quite distracting at times) there was a real sense of leadership and vision at that podium. I only hope that he can deliver alongside a divided congress. There is a cost to doing nothing.

As I look out my window, I see that the sun is shining. The snow has melted. There are no remanants left from the snowstorm that hit, 3 days ago. Oh, how fickle is the weather.

Back in September I moved to a 'northern' Manitoba community to teach. You might find it interesting to know that we've had more than 15 days this winter where the temperature has been below -40 (NOT counting the windchill). With windchill, we managed to hit -57C (-70F) once.

NutmegClaw I just finished reading "Forrest Gump" by Winston Groom. It is quite a bit different from the movie and is very good. Don't get me wrong, the movie was awesome, the book had its moments though, and if you get a chance to read it you should.

In February I will settle for the flood. Going through photographs to pack and saw the pictures of my twin neices, at 4, 5 ,7 9 years. Yesterday they turned 18, which means my 1st grandchild will be 18. Time flies. Does not seem that long. The joy of having the early pictures of family to look back on. Thankful for all healthy.

My sleeping habits, or lack of same, are becoming more worrisome.
Last night, I accidentally dozed off in the evening, which of course meant it was very difficult to get a good night's sleep. I fell asleep halfway through the overtime of a hockey game, which just shouldn't happen.
