If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Currently awaiting the 4th major snowstorm of the month, possibly up to 35-40cm with high winds. We can sit out the storms just fine, as long as we don't lose the power, and right now, the electrical and phone lines are coated in salt sea ice blown off the Atlantic, so anything's possible. The generator is primed and ready. Gotta' love living on The Rock, especially in winter. Canada Rocks, especially Newfoundland and Labrador!!!

I am also getting ready for a snowstorm as well. There is one coming in the Midwest United States, where I could be seeing anywhere to a dusting to seven inches.

Tonight I had planned just to pick up a few essentials at the supermarket, and then settle in to a quiet, cozy evening. Well, first of all, I decided to go window shopping at the clothing outlet next to the supermarket. Then after I walked over to the supermarket, they were out of most of the things I wanted. When I returned to my car, I discovered I had left the lights on. Battery dead. In 18 degrees F I combed the parking lot looking for someone with jumper cables. Everyone said no; I think some were lying, including one lady who said, "I don't have any jumper cables; I have a new car." (Huh?) I found a man, but he was loading up his van with supplies for a food pantry, so I had to wait. Then at first, even after we had hooked up our batteries, the car wouldn't start, and I was afraid it was the alternator. But finally the car started. The man said to drive around to charge so I did -- and got lost. When I finally figured out how to get home, I started having a low-blood-sugar episode. I didn't bring a snack b/c I didn't expect to be gone this long. (All in all, a 10-minute trip ended up lasting 3 hours). I was afraid I was going to have to pull over and dial for help but I made it home. (Which is good because I had not brought my cell phone either, as it turns out.) When I got home, my cat jumped at me as I came in, and started running around and he managed to knock off the shelf my favorite Kentucky Derby mint julep glass. :-( That startled me, and I didn't shut the door properly, so the neighbor's cat came in, and they began chasing each other, and they almost destroyed another glass. I have now taken down all the glasses. :-(

zordy Today my youngest daughter turns 18. The other one is 20 in few days. It means I have no one under age in the family. Now I wonder: is this a fun or a sad story?

The organization I work for has a policy that all new studies we undertake have to be approved, in prospectus form, before we can seek funding or enterinto contracts. Today is the due date to submit the prospectuses for review by the govcerning board. It's done via proprietary software. Guess what is glitchy today. Yup. The prospctus database/submission program!

NutmegClaw I went for a walk a couple days ago. When I returned home I was approached by two young ladies. They were in my neighborhood inviting people to go to their church. We had a friendly chat and they gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon. Now maybe I'll be able to answer the questions about that book without guessing tee hee hee.

C30 - Actually yes. But then tonight.... I have spent the evening trying to find a bird that got in the house. Now it is hiding somewhere, and I can't figure it out. Neither can my cat, who was chasing it and has now decided to take a nap. When he wakes up, perhaps we can look for it again. (I'm hoping it flew back outside).

C30 Gracious - we have FOUR cats! The fireplace in Lounge is boarded up as we don't use it........one day I heard a scrabbling noise from there. Moved the boards away - and out flew a Starling - 4 cats fled upstairs in panic!

Mind you, the "Great Mouse Hunt" conducted at 3am one night, is another story!

There are some dates which stick in the mind no matter what you do. Maybe it's a birthday, or a world-shattering event like JFK's assassination, or just when you started your first job - but whatever it is, it will stick with you while other things get overlooked and forgotten. Today is one of those days for me. As a child I was in the Brownies and then the Girl Guides; this morning, fifty years later, I woke up remembering that 22nd February is "Thinking Day". I know the date was chosen because it was the birthday of both Robert and Olave Baden-Powell, founders of the Scouts and Guides - but for the life of me I can't remember what I was supposed to think about on Thinking Day so I'll just wander off and think about something else. :)

I took my 15 month old grandson to day care this morning and he was welcomed by a 13 month girl that covered him in kisses. Got to love those grandbabies!

nala212 Nearly two weeks ago, a friend of mine got run over by a drunk driver. She is still in ICU in a coma and we don't know if she'll ever wake up. And if she does, there's no guarantee that she will ever be alright again. And the wife of the driver told the police that she'd been driving, even though eye witnesses have reported that she didn't arrive at the scene until after the accient had already happened. She wasn't even in the car! In my opinion drunk driving doesn't nearly get punished severely enough no matter if an accident happened or not.

cal562301 I have ongoing health issues following brain surgery two years ago. As a result I have to have regular injections.

Three weeks ago, I had blood tests and the results were so good that they've decided I only need injections every 8 weeks instead of every 6 weeks.

I'm very happy about that, although I will probably need the injections for the rest of my life.

A friend is very ill with cancer. The last year has been horrible for her and she might not survive. Her pain level is so high nothing provides relief.

I cannot express in words how it would be to not have her in the world. I want to be selfish and keep her with us. I know I cannot and must abide by her wishes.

My heart hurts and I feel so worthless as I am unable to do anything for her.
