Once upon a time my team mate gme24 came to this board and began to tell a story. I feel like continuing it. So here it goes: Part of the fun visiting this site comes from "meeting" your team mates. My team are the European Players, and I enjoy being a member of the team. For centuries Europeans have fought wars against each other, now we join each other in playing trivia quizzes. That's what I call progress.

Where would I be without my teammates?...I thought I had visited most of the site at one time or another...and this challenge comes up...I went running to my teammates who gently led me by the hand to where I needed to go...I am lucky to be a llama:)

Last night, I met one of my favorite bands, Lacuna Coil. I had a VIP ticket, so I got lots of things signed, and a photo with them, plus I was in the front row for the concert! I had an amazing night!

I'd like to share my story of falling in love with my cats! Not literally, though I'm very fond of them - hee! I was always extremely afraid of cats all my life (like Napoleon, I think I suffered from ailurophobia but that all changed when one of my co-workers told me about a kitten found on the property - I took one look into his little face and pronounced myself cured! Two days later, they found another one from the same litter and I took her home too (she was even cuter that the first one!) - Now I have my two cats Shay (boy) and (Cookie) girl and they are two of the brightest spots in my life!

At home, I wanted to ask my older brother (who lives in Chicago) to buy a book for me, but forgot to tell him about it. The next day my language arts teacher said we would be reading the story in class. Two weeks later, a package arrives. The tag says my brother bought it. I open it to find the book inside. :P

Once before I was directed here while doing the Daily Challenge. I posted a story about a friend who was soon to be homeless if something good didn't come her way.
A few days ago, I was PM'd by a fellow Fun Trivia player but a complete stranger. That person was touched by my story and wanted to know how things turned out.
I was overwhelmed; that a stranger would take the time to inquire after someone they didn't know.
Some days it really does pay to get out of bed.

The Devious Demons plodd on, but still want to know what happened to our leader nycdmc70 (Dawn) who has not been seen or heard of since 26th June 2012.
We know she had called the Doctor out for a back problem, but that's all we know as we have not had a peep out of her since.
We all miss her and wish we knew what had happened to her, in the meantime I will keep the Team plodding on, but it's hers to take back whenever she reappears, which hopefully won't be too much longer.

Ozfei's avatar was one of the first I noticed when I joined FT many moons ago, and it still puts a smile on my face :-)

I've been directed here to share a story, but am not sure what to write. Halloween is my favourite holiday and one in which I go all out. For the past several years, I've participated in something called Zoo Boo. It's a haunted house, but one geared more for young children and/or those for whom the scary Houses would be too intense. I've worn several costumes over the years, only one of which was never mistaken for anything else. Which one you ask?
Well, my favourite costume is the Anne Boleyn one. Most people think that one is a fairytale princess. A few have said fairytale queen, as apparently I am too old to be a princess. Grumble. A few loudly exclaimed, 'Oh look! It's Queen Victoria!' My response? 'English queen, yes, but you're only off by about 300 or so years which one.' 'Close enough' was their stock reply. The one who said 'Oh, Bloody Mary' had me at first a little put out as if the spirit of Anne had momentarily filled me, but once I realised why this person thought Bloody Mary, I nearly died laughing. The necklace with the big letter B...that's not what it stands for. And then there was the time Henry VIII showed up, but perhaps we'll save that for the next time I get directed to share a personal story.
The Slytherin student costume was a big hit and readily recognised as being from Harry Potter. The only problem? With my long brown hair, I look like Hermione. Everyone says so. If I point out the green and silver tie, the Slytherin House crest and express deep adulation for Severus Snape, they all say, 'EEW!' There's a lesson in tolerance there somewhere, I just haven't found it yet.
But when I wore the Death Eater costume, there was no mistaking anything. They get recognised. And most of the comments are unprintable, so I'll stop there.

I've also been directed here to write a story. What happened in Grafton this week. We had the crowning of the Jacaranda Princess on Saturday. Fetes galore and busy times by everyone involved for the upcoming Jacaranda festival. The Jacaranda trees are in full bloom and the city of Grafton is very pretty. Roll on Thursday. A 1/2 day holiday for all. Yippee!

No "story" to tell this time, but a couple of nice things to share. Firstly, the clocks went back last night so I've gained an extra hour. Secondly, I don't have to get up at all on Monday if I don't want to because it's half term!

I have been told to tell a story or an incident of interest. I hope this will give some of the members food for thought.
Recently, when I returned to my car in the shopping carpark I could not get it started. It just refused to respond. Suddenly there was a tap on the window and there stood a young man I would judge to be in his late 20's. I wound the window down. He asked if I was having difficulties and could he help. I replied I was having difficulties but I would manage. He then suggested that I get out and he would hop in and start the car for me. When I hesitated (he was a complete stranger after all) he handed me the keys to his car and said, "Here, if it makes you feel more secure, these are the keys to my car over there", and he pointed to a beautiful late model Jaguar, "if I steal your car, you will still have mine",and with that he laughed. So I got out and in a trice he had my car purring. I thanked him profusely and was soon on my way. The nice thing about this story is that there are still young people around who are willing to help older citizens in difficulties, the sad thing is that this world has become a place where we view approaches of this kind with suspicion. Where have we gone wrong?

What a delightful young man Mommakat! It does restore ones faith in the youth of today. I often think that it's the minority that spoil it for the majority. It puts a smile on my face when I read accounts like yours.
My daughter is 17, and she is a lovely girl! On Monday next week, she is getting an award with our local District Lions, 'Young Leader in Service', for doing over a hundred hours of voluntary work in the community. I am so proud of her! ( I inadvertantly told a friend it was for a 100 hours of Community Service, and got the sarcastic reply, 'why what was she convicted of' lol.)
She is being put forward as an 'Ambassador' next year.

Same procedure as last year - clocks are going back one hour and winter pushes in ;o) We had loudly howling north wind all night and the first snow this morning, so we're getting ready for at least four months of cold weather - brrr!

We had a new baby calf born yesterday. She is a very cute, very perky longhorn. She is already running and playing with a another calf who was born a week ago. They are fun to watch.
