If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

This challenge is so hard, although in theory it should be easy. What may seem funny/interesting to one person could be boring to someone else. Perhaps it's designed to make us chat more? Anyhow I do agree with the poster above who questions the speed element in scoring, so frustrating if you can't skim-read!

I had such a wonderful Halloween. A few of my friends' power was out, so they came over and helped me hand out candy and hung out. It was so impromptu, but so enjoyable.

diade68 I used to go to Vienna a lot in the last 10 years but only this year I decided to visit the Vienna Zoo.I learned that it is considered the oldest around the world and I had the privilege to watch a beautiful Giant Panda eating at his own, slow pace a stick of bamboo. Beauty in this world has indeed infinite forms.

Well - I found the place as directed by my challenge. So what do I do now? This is the first time I have visited any of these general chat areas. I think I shall visit some of the other areas and maybe meet some new people. It is the first step that is difficult.

jasa9092 I was here but now I'm gone. I left my name to carry on. Ok, so that wasn't quite the purpose of this challenge, huh? Lol. Ok... Halloween was ok although I no longer have small children. My grandbaby lives 7 hours away so I didn't see him in person, but from the pictures I saw, he made the cutest 4 month old football player ever. :)

I had a pretty good day today. I'm packing and getting ready to go on vacation for two weeks in Florida. I'm really excited!

Well, since here in NJ we were hit by Sandy (fortunately, we were safe), the governor signed an executive order that Halloween trick or treating will be held Monday night. That's ok but now I've got to buy more candy because my husband ate most of it.

My eldest daughter has recently moved to Abu Dhabi to teach at an English speaking school. To cut a long story short my wife and son went out to visit her last week, as I have a morbid fear of flying I stayed at home. I had a ball by the way. Downside was you should have seen me the night before they got back trying to get the house back into some sort of order. It was like a scene from a comedy picture.

In my team we sometimes write limericks about each other. Here is one which could refer to my team, Pi in the Sky.

"'Tis a favourite project of mine,

A new value of pi to assign.

I would fix it at 3,

For it's simpler, you see,

Than 3 point 1 4 1 5 9"

I have been directed here for the second time in a week to tell a story. At my age I have a wealth of them, so which to choose? Perhaps this one will raise a smile.

Years ago when my daughter was small, she was playing in the back garden with her little friend who had come to stay for the weekend. I noticed that there were 6 large red almost ripe strawberries in the vegetable patch, so warned them not to touch them, as I would pick them later and put them on their icecream dessert that evening. But when I went back later, no strawberries in sight. I asked who had taken them and both denied it. Of course I did not believe that, as there were only 3 people home that day, and I knew I hadn't touched them, so both of them got a smack and told it was not so much for taking the strawberries, but for lying into the bargain.

Hardly had the words left my mouth when I heard a strange "woop! woop! woop! noise behind me and turned, just in time to see our golden labrador dog throw up - no prizes for guessing what. Believe me my face was as red as those strawberries. Footnote: My daughter has never forgotten it, nor has she let me forget it and brings it up at every relative opportunity. LOL

Yesterday I went to the OTB parlor and lost all my money betting on the Breeders Cup races. This is a story that will probably be repeated in the near future :)

I've also been directed here as part of the Daily Challenge, so it's perhaps opportune that I've had an eventful week.

On Tuesday morning I went into hospital for a total hip replacement, the second one within 4 months. I knew they needed replacing several years ago, but I'm a carer 24/7 for my 96 year old mother so continually put the operations off in order to maintain her support.

The situation became so painful that it was necessary to make arrangements for these operations at the beginning of the year.

The first operation was very successful and I'm quite optimistic that the second one will be equally beneficial, and perhaps for the first time in years I will soon be able to walk normally again without the severe pain. I was allowed home on Thursday afternoon after just two nights in hospital and so far things are progressing well except that I'm feeling very tired! But at long last there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Found out this summer that a neighbor was a released murder who had killed his wife, chopped her up and dumped her in the river. Why was he free you ask? Changes in sentencing laws changed his initial sentence, but couldn't change it back when struck down by the courts. How did we find out you ask? He was arrested for raping his 14 year old granddaughter. Sick. It has taken me months to even be able to talk about it. Sick. I have never known such pure evil.

My wife and I decided to take a week-long vacation in West Virginia to see the Fall colors and see some of the attractions. We had originally scheduled it for late October, but we moved it up a couple of weeks to avoid the possibility of below-freezing weather icing up the roads.

It's a good thing we did. Two weeks after we got back, Sandy dumped one to two feet of snow on all the areas that we visited. We're now safely back in the sunny south where anything under forty degrees is a brutally cold day.
