Since the daily challenges were started, there have been all sorts of questions by players, but my favorite is easily the (usually somewhat desperate) "How can I score exactly ONE point" from a player who missed a Twin challenge by a hair.
If your twin is online, you have a good way out - the twin needs to play the regular Instaquiz and you play Instaquiz Gold, both scoring exactly one question right, but it is actually possible to do it alone as well. I'm not telling the recipe right now, but it involves a timed game (which can also be a regular quiz in Game Mode), a good timer and nine wrong answers. Have fun figuring out the rest!

Starlord posted - "Today I for dialysis, one of four sessions I have a week."
My friend, and your 'classmate' here on FT, Liz5050, told me of your post. And we both wish you the best and will keep high hopes for you in our thoughts.

Once again the weather is getting cold. My only regret is that my cats now think of me as their personal heating unit! My bed seems to be getting smaller and smaller!

On Tuesday night this week, my partner and I went to a concert at our local theatre here in Torquay. The band we saw were huge over here in the early and mid 1970's and have lost none of their appeal 40 nyears later.
10cc are currently touring to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Admittedly, Graham Gouldman is the only remaining member of the band that most of us know and love, but the other band members all have a very close connection that goes back to the band's earliest days. All extremely talented multi-instrumentalists, this was how music should be played. No sampling, no loops, no harmonisers etc, just fingers bon strings and sticks on drumskin. They took me right back to my early teenage years... Absolutely brilliant!
They are taking this tour around the world apparently over the coming 12 months or so. You've gotta go see if they come close to your area.

I empathise with Ghostowner. My cats have ignored me all summer but now the weather is getting colder I have become their best friend. I can't sit on the sofa without having them attached to me!!

Back in the 70's I was in the Navy, attached to a nuclear-powered cruiser. We pulled into the island of Mauritius, off the African coast. I was walking around the capital city by myself and one of the residents came up and asked if I was off the USS Long Beach. When I told him I was, he shook my hand and thanked me profusely. I wondered what that was all about and asked when I got back to the ship. Apparently on the previous cruise, a couple of years before this, there had been a typhoon in the area that knocked out all power to the city. Our ship was diverted to help them out. We docked and connected our nuclear power plants to the city's power grid and restored power to the city until they could effect repairs. I was not on the ship at that time, so I had never heard about that. I suspect there is a lot of humanitarian work done by all branches of our armed forces that goes unrecognized, but this one particular resident sure remembered what we had done for them.

I am trying to finish a book. Yes it sounds ho hum, not very adventurous .
But it is my own poems. I've been at it for years and years, teaching how to write poetry, getting an MFA and , once, working a place which allowed me to meet greats such as Ginsberg, Creeley, Merwin, McClure, Rich, etc. The point is I was taught to know what a good poem is. So....my book. I am trying make an Xmas present of a small bound book for my friends and it is a ruthless job: to make a cover, to edit the copy clean and, most of all, to respect the poems in there.
Some part of me wants to see appear four new poems in two days, poems which will do everything I would love them to be. But my days are numbered to finish this project: 30 50 page copies.
Meanwhile there is life practically going on and a sudden invitation to go to NY to visit my mother's sister.
I bet I will finish but it will be a jam-packed crunch time .

One of the quizzes I played today was authored by a trivia player who I am convinced is my twin - separated from me at birth! The author's questions (of course, it was about Animals) were amazing. Just perfect. The interesting information gave me insight to a degree of empathy and compassion that I know is shared by only a few. Truly made me realize and appreciate that we are here for more than just "playing games" and "answering questions". Touched my heart. And, now this gives me the chance to say "thank you" fellow trivia players and authors - for sharing your thoughts with all of us.

I posted twice before about a friend who was going to be homeless. I am very happy to post now that I visited my friend's new home over the weekend and it is beautiful. I'm so glad for her. For those of you with kind thoughts and wishes, thank you, thank you, thank you!

One of my best friends just welcomed his second son into the world this past Monday. At 9 lbs and 10 oz, he is actually the runt of his family! His older brother was actually born 4 oz heavier.

I once went to get soup from the real "Soup Nazi" in Manhattan. Much better than the soup itself was watching the person ahead of me get denied their soup! Although instead of "No Soup for You!", once she broke the rules it was as if she no longer existed and the "Soup Nazi" just said "Move the line, move the line!"
P.S. In real life he looks a lot more like Brad Garrett.

I had a good time playing bridge this afternoon. A lot of partial scores, a few games, but no slams - so kind of an average game.

My cat seems to have found an interesting way to guarantee himself a few moments' attention: He goes to the laundry room, pushes the door shut behind him, then scratches at the door to be let out.
Fortunately, he hasn't yet tried this while I've been at work or away so far.
