If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I picked my 6 year old granddaughter up at the hospital for an afternoon pass yesterday and as we discussed how we were going to spend the time she proceeded to give me the weaather report for the day. I asked her if Daddy or Mommy had told her and she said 'No, I watched the news' and then started listing off all the cities she could remember hearing. Looking forward to what will come out of her little mouth tomorrow.

I have just finished making a Birthday card for my friend.
I am so pleased with it. I hope she likes it

My seven year old niece and goddaughter started school this year. Last week she came home and proudly told her mom that she had written her first test. "Oh, well done" said her mom, "what was it on?"? "A piece of paper", she replied. Trying to keep a straight face, her mom then asked her how had she found the test. "The teacher gave to me." was the solemn reply :)

No challenge, just the sad news that when I came home from dialysis today my stepmother informed me that our dear Jack Russell terrier Gemma had, had to be put to sleep this morning, she was 15 and had a large internal tumour on her liver, been bawling my eyes out since I heard the news. Don't feel like playing Funtrivia today.

My grandchildren spent the night last night, and to help them go to sleep, I told them one of their favorite bedtime stories: how when their mother was 8 years old, she broke her arm, but I didn't believe her for 8 days! What's worse, since she complained, I concocted a home made splint made of a bamboo flip flop and a scarf for a sling. She came home from school mortified at the teasing from the other children. When I finally took her seriously and got it x-rayed, she did indeed have a stress fracture, but the best news of all was that the doctor put a real cast on her arm, and she was vindicated! In any case, my grandchildren are shocked that I could have been so craven!

Oh Starlord I am so sorry. I have a 3 year old toy Jack Russell named Chuck that I would be lost with out. (((((hugs)))))))

I was going to try to tell some story with a significant theme, but it's Friday, after all... I will just briefly say that cats are definitely meteorologists; mine are joining in what seems to be the worldwide trend of crowding owners out of the bed to secure all the warmth.

In my backyard there is a cinder block lying by the fence. It marks the Tomb of the Unknown Cat. And here's the story behind that.
A couple of years ago, when my male cat was young and frisky, he got into the habit of leaping the fence. I'd have to go get him, of course, because I live by a pretty busy street. This one time, I didn't even see him do it, but when I realized he was missing, I walked around my property to locate him.
To my dismay, I saw a cat's body that had been hit by a car, the coloring of which was identical to my cat. (There was a lot of damage to his face, so I couldn't make a positive ID.) So, I was feeling pretty down, and decided I would bury "my" cat. I dug the hole and put the blanket-wrapped body in the ground. I was in the middle of covering up the body, when I hear an inquisitive mew (like WASSUP?) from the other side of the fence. I open the gate...and it's MY cat! Alive!
But I filled in the grave anyway, now with a profound sense of relief, and put a cinder block over it. "The Tomb of the Unknown Cat." BTW, my cat is now too big and fat to jump the fence and remembers not a thing. I, on the other hand, will take that memory to MY grave.

Suzi, that's wonderful news, especially at Thanksgiving time. Thanks for posting the update. :)

Ever since my 3 yo son found out that his mom works in a hospital, he keeps telling everyone that she is making everybody better. This week we got talking about my job. When I told him I was a lawyer, he fell silent and looked rather dejected. He thought about it for a minute, while stirring in his yoghurt. Then he looked up, smiled and said with hope glimmering in his eyes: "But you're still sweet, aren't you?"

I hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving has a wonderful day. For those who don't celebrate that day, have a great day anyway, next Thursday and all days!

I go to a therapy group meeting every Monday (well at least twice a month ). Well yesterday was our Thanksgiving event. You didn't have to bring a dish but I did. I took my cherry cobbler, but also doubled the recipe (thank god). There were gobs of people! I had no idea, however, that there would be prizes for best side dish and for best desert. Well, not only did I take home an empty bowl, but I won!! Cant wait for Christmas cause I am going for both, side dish and desert!!

In reply to Starlord, I am very sorry for your loss!! We have cats and many heartbreaks yet have also many great moments as well. But it is tragic and it hurts soo much to loose anyone of them. they own my house i just pay the bills for them.

Today has been a grey dank miserable day, the sort of day you just want to go back to bed and curl up.

I had my first game of senior cricket in 13 years yesterday - having made a comeback in the 'Veterans' side earlier in the season. Made a very solid and stylish 2. For non-cricket people, that's not particularly good! We got flogged, but I enjoyed it immensely despite the pains this morning.

pyonir I have a confession today...I don't like dogs. Not because of a fear or dislike of animals, I just don't particularly like dogs. Cats are okay, they are independent and only need attention once in a while. Dogs are too needy for me, always want your attention, barking, licking, outside, inside. I'd prefer no pets, but dogs are a no go for me.

DomiNeyTor At the end of every Tampa Bay Rays home win, they show a clip from "Entourage" of Johnny Drama yelling "Victory". In the episode, he supposedly wound up there driving aimlessly at night. However, I've been to Guano Point (near the Grand Canyon Skywalk where the scene was filmed). The 14-mile dirt road on the way there is hard enough to navigate during daytime, I couldn't even think of driving it at night. And the Hualapai Indians have the area fenced off to where they have to drive you, you can't take your car there.

rdrd_r_r On Sunday 29 October 2012 I had just paid for petrol and got back into car and only just been in car for a few minutes then felt pains in my chest that radiated to my neck. I told my husband and ofcourse we drove straight to hospital. Next thing I knew I was just about to have an angiogram but I think I stressed out the doctor telling him to be careful because I have my daughter's wedding the following Saturday and didn't want any commplications....no pressure!!! Anyway 3 stents latter due to tears in my right artery I made it to the wedding and everyone said I looked good....miracle of modern medicine. They still don't really know what caused the heart attack though.

rdrd? I think a voice from my past just whispered spookily into my present. You've got mail.

The rest of you can go back to sleep now; yes, I am quite mad but you knew that anyway. ;)

Last night I tried out a new recipe for Spanish-style garlic prawns that I want to use for a tapas evenings with friends next week. The result: awesome. However, the smallest bottle of dry sherry I could find was 750ml and I used only 60ml in the recipe so I now have a lot of booze I don't know what to do with.
