hermet: I agree. And I don't know deep the team is now, but they are one of the best recruiting classes this year thanks to their great year...so they will only improve.

Did anyone else see an article about after the BCS bowl that one of the computers still ranked ND over Bama?

As a cynic I rarely say this, but I am shocked at the story which has come out that Manti Te'o girlfriend, who it was reported died of leukemia early in the college football season, and along with the death of his grandmother, inspired his outstanding play all year. This was a great emotional story all year.
Before today I didn't know that they had never met in person and only talked online.
Bottom line is the story is untrue and was a sick joke played on every college football fan and everyone who followed the story.
The only question left is was the sickest joke played on Te'o himself, or did he have some knowledge and was in on the hoax.

I don't see how you can not point a finger at Teo. There are articles and interviews where he is quoted to discuss when they met, how she visited him in Hawaii, and how they corresponded in length. He's carried on this charade since about the third game of the season. The truth is, she doesn't exist and they never met. You can't really meet and arrange visits with a fictional person without lying about these events having occurred.

I have seen Te'o use the word met in the wrong context in interviews, but haven't seen the ones where he specifically says they saw each other in person.
Reagan Mauia, a former NFL player, has come out saying he met the woman in person, who it was reported doesn't exist.
This is getting stranger by the hour.

I think T'eo was the victim of a very sick joke. He probably became aware of it at some point and was just too embarrased to admit he had been played for a sucker. I don't blame him - he's just a naive kid - but I do blame the so-called friends who set him up. He's probably just very shy around women, and this "relationship" may be the first one he'd ever had. I don't think he deserves the criticism and all the flak he's been catching over this. He seems like a genuinely nice kid.
