Subject: What Book Am I?
Date: Sep 02 12

This works like the movie and people threads. You ask yes/no questions, and the person who correctly guesses the book gets to pick the next one.

Books can be either fiction or non-fiction, must be classified as a novel or novella. This means no plays, poems, or short stories.

I will begin with:

What book am I?

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Jabb (and others if interested):
I just recently learned that the titled author of the Jack Reacher novels, "Lee Child" is actually one Jim Grant, born in Coventry, England (1954). This unbeliveably gifted author now resides in New York City.

Yep, I read that. And it's interesting how he modeled the character's physical appearance after himself.

I noticed that. He look a lot like me too (NOT :-)

In the book I'm reading, "A Wanted Man", Reacher casually comments about who his favorite American president was (it has nothing to do with the plot, just a throwaway line, so I'm not giving anything away).

I don't reall his ever mentioning it before, but perhaps he did. Do you know who it is? Would you like to take a guess or should I just "stop yapping" and let you read it yourself...if you haven't already?

I haven't read it yet, so I'll take a wild guess (or two) and say Thomas Jefferson or U.S. Grant.

And I'll be back momentarily with a book.

I'll await your poser...do you want me to reveal JR's fav prez?

All right everyone, new book. A work of fiction.

And sure, Paul, who is his favorite President?

Harry Truman. I'm guessing because of Fat Man and Little Boy. I have 12 pages to go in "A Wanted Man"...then off to work.

Is your author still living?

Ha....I was toying with guessing either Eisenhower or Truman.

No, my author has not been with us for some years.

No, an American.

Did your author die before 1970?
Are you "On The Road"?

jabb5076

Not Jack Kerouac, and died in the 20th century but much earlier than him.

How about old Mark Twain?

Is your author male?

My author is Mark Twain.

adams627 Ok, so..."The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn"?

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court?

It is The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. To paraphrase Ernest Hemingway, Huck Finn was the book with which all modern American literature began.

Adams, you're up.

adams627 My personal favorite Twain--though, as I believe another author (possibly Hemingway) once wrote, the book would have been a whole lot better if it had ended before the whole incident at the Phelps' farm.

Ok, this new work is probably classified as a novella, not a novel.
