Have you ever found a venomous animal living in your backyard? If so, what was it?

I've lived in a number of different houses, and I've found on a few occasions that my backyard has been home to Centipedes and Red-Back spiders.

I have found only slow-worms, toads and hedgehogs.

Greatguggly Living in the deep south pretty much my whole life, I run across venomous animals all the time. Mostly copperheads, water moccasins and various spiders.

Greatguggly Callie Ross, I just killed a black widow yesterday. There's a load of them under the house. I found that out the hard way when I went under there to fix some pipes. Long story short...I called a plumber.

sasha67 Well today my son was bit by a black widow. I have found scorpions and rattle snakes too.

ElusiveDream Sasha67, I suggest your son seeks medical attention immediately, the faster the better.

callie_ross Greatguggly: I hope they don't decide to come inside your house! YIKES!

I live in Florida and we have black widow spiders and rattlesnakes. We also have Pygmy rattlers which are very aggressive. One of them struck at the shotgun right before I pulled the trigger. I have children and small pets in my yard, so the rattlers have to go.

I had a couple of black widows living in my garage when I first moved in, and a couple of scorpions get into the house each year.

We've got black widow spiders but everything else isn't venomous enough to cause damage. Although rattlesnakes live less then 5 miles from my house I've only seen them when I go hiking.
