I came across this moving and enlightening video on Youtube. Frederic and his wife are from the South of France and have radical ideas about the treatment and training of horses. There is a reversal of roles and the horses are trained in a way that they are not submitted to pressure. It's a wonder to behold.

It is quite a wonder. Nice and relaxing, too.

The difference between Frederic Pignon's horses and the dressage horses in competitions is that the horses are not dominated by the rider. Neither are their heads pulled into their chests so that all they can see is their feet. Rollkur is supposed to be illegal but is still used in some countries. I always used to think that the horse and rider were as one in the dressage but the horse is performing with a certain amount of cruelty and domination. This video will enlighten you.
