Mommakat has it--it's orienteering (or geochaching if someone had said that first, even though I'm not sure they're precisely the same.)
And Paul---it's driving me crazy. What's ring-a-leavio??

Thanks! It is getting hard now because Sport is a bit more limited for material than other subjects but I haven't seen this one mentioned as yet. should be easy. An outdoor sport. Not a large team sport.

Badminton?
Jabb, from Wicki:
Ringolevio (also spelled ringalevio or ring-a-levio) is a children's game which may be played anywhere but which originates in the teeming streets of New York City, and is known to have been played there at least as far back as before World War I. It is one of the many variations of tag. It requires close team work and near-military strategy. In some quarters this game is known as Manhunt which is really another game with different rules. In Canada, this game is known as Relievio. In Boston and Ireland in the 1960s, it was also called Relievio and is mentioned in Roddy Doyle's Booker prize-winning novel Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha and Bill O'Reilly's book, A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity.

Thanks Paul. This sport is definitely outdoors and I would think indulged in by a single person.

Does the sport involve animals?

The only animal involved is a two legged one. No four legged ones. To be honest I had never heard of this sport until it was the subject of a question right here on Trivia today.
