From earlier games, I have decided that "ac" means "bill" in the UK. So, 2 "AC" is ACAC. I assume IA means First Class in some way, and ACACIA is a plant.

You're almost certainly right with Acacia, Salami.
You said "I assume IA means First Class in some way, and ACACIA is a plant".
A1 means first class and if it's 'raised' becomes 1A.
