Subject: Cryptic Crosswords

Hi,
My son-in-law was impressed by my addiction to FT and my "success", in his view:)- (I consider myself average, by the way), anyway, he gave me a copy of New Cryptic Crosswords by Daily Mail for Christmas because he thought that would be something for me. The other way around - I am lost. It´s too difficult for me. Nevertheless, why not to share some. (I know the answers as they are at the back of the book:))

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I hope I've not been too 'greedy' with the answers, as houston and mdurnanj have probably not seen this yet.

That's my lot now for at least 24 hrs ;o)

houston1127 4 Skill at climbing European mountains (5)

TATRA mountains, maybe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatra_Mountains

ART (skill) + AT = reversed (climbing) ARTAT to TATRA (European mountains)

2 Say if there´s a role for people to find way back into top accommodation (5,10)

Say : STATE
a role : A PART
people : MEN
way : ST(reet) : back TS

top accommodation : STATE APARTMENTS

That still leaves nos. 18 and 21 I think?

jolana

Yes. I somehow ignored 21.

So, it´s 18 and 21.

STATE APARTMENTS are right.
