Game 2 is underway. Round up the troops and take to the field. It's going to be bloody!

Also, mergers are no longer permitted. From here on out, you're either playing for the team you're locked in with, or else you're for Free Agents.

It's fierce out there folks! 215 players so far with just over 8 hours left in it. Rememebr, you're looking for at least 5 players per team!

So sad, Elle. I failed on that one Mughal Dynasty question that always trips me up on FT!

Akbar and Babur the Elephant? I always get that one wrong. Actually I'm pretty sure the question revolves so that whichever answer I select is always the wrong one. ;)

Would you have an easier time with U.S. Presidents Floppy?

Very probably. I have learned a lot about the bathtime habits of US Presidents since I signed up for FT, not to mention their wives' predilictions for lemonade and occasionally their children's writing habits. I'm sure it's all fascinating stuff, though not nearly as nasty as the things we used to do to our kings. ;)

Haha, yes...I think there are 2 or 3 similar versions of that question that have different answers. Drives me batty.

And I have learned a lot about the English kings...and queens! Some of them have lost their heads!

And one had a red hot poker inserted into his anatomy... which is probably a lot worse than losing your head, at least to start with. ;)

Dear Kyle. you haven't taken into account that some players, myself among them, are not American. Questions should be universal. Geography and History were great but American TV songs are for people who live there. I never watch American TV but I know American History, Literature and geography. Think about it.

Dear Kyle, you haven't thought that a lot of players are from different parts of the world and not only from the U.S.Geography and History were great as they combined local with universal subjects but TV songs are for American people as I never watch American TV as I don't live there. Please think about it.

I think this is a most fantastic tourney you are running, Kyle...thanks a ton for undertaking this and good luck for the whole month :)
papo, games for all days are not considered for the tourney if you meant topics for specific days...the tourney is only every 3rd day and I think the topics chosen for these days are quite general in nature...like you, most of my team (except 1) are from outside the US, but I haven't heard the US-specific question thing from anybody on my side...

Hi papo!
I am very aware of our diverse membership. I have run Wit's End successfully since 2005, and have always enjoyed global participation.
As srini points out, the Team Heroes Open Invitational runs only every third day (Feb 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27. The remainder of the days are operating as usual, and have no bearing on the Team Heroes format.
At Wit's End, our players (American, English, Australian, Egyptian, Malaysian, etc.) vote for the Special Topic (33% of the month's games), which this month is Famous Brothers. It's a tough one, I know!
Additionally, we feature a Player Picks category in which the most active players from the previous month are randomly selected to pick topics of their choice. We've had Picks like "Eurovision Song Contest" from Qmel, "New Zealand" from Howie72, "Ancient Egypt" from arcturas9, and "NCAA Basketball" from CardsRule. Our player eunice has chosen "TV Theme Songs" and that his her prerogative (as per usual) having earned her Pick.
I have specifically picked the Team Heroes categories this month to play to as wide an audience as possible, but the rest of the topics are not chosen by me per se, and do not affect your team scores in any way.
Cheers!
Kyle |
