Rufus has a problem with me, he says

I don't like ' u '.

I am writing a brainteaser and part of the instructions in one of the questions is to remove a U.

Do I have to rewrite the question or is Rufus only making suggestions?

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

It's likely only a suggestion.

Rufus tries to filter out chatspeak (amongst other things). The suggestion is intended to save time for editors, who would have to send that message if it really is an improper usage. If he really won't allow something, you get a message saying that it isn't allowed when you try to save.

Who is Rufus?

When you save a template that has content that may not meet requirements, you sometimes get an automated message from Rufus. It's just a way of finding some of the most common issues, and having authors address them before they submit their quiz for editing. If you always see a little column of green 'ok's beside the list of your questions, you will not yet have met Rufus. I personally only know him by reputation.

Thanks for asking that question Gracious1 - I wanted to know too but thought I'd be showing my ignorance LOL! :)

I know him from typing 'zealot' and being warned that I used the non-word 'alot'. Rufus isn't perfect.

I cannot recall seeing Rufus. The only time I don't get green ticks is when I haven't done anything with the question, or wrote a few thoughts in the question box to know what I'm writing, and it has a warning for no answers given, capitalizing the question, etc.

Since I usually know WHY it's not a green tick, I can't say as I have ever read it to know it was "Rufus".

I remember in my "Let's Enjoy A Green Day" quiz, the answer to one of my questions was Football (Soccer), and Rufus said that I should not write a question that involves things like "All of these".

Technically you can; he just doesn't like it.

It's an answer type we try to avoid since so many people tend to select it automatically. The warning will appear if your answer begins with the word 'All' (or contains it, I believe).

Thanks for that information I was just worried that when he wrote
" Rufus doesn't like 'u' "

that he had a personal dislike of me.

Does 'Rufus' also clock-in for work at single question central?
