Pizza Ponderings

Someone in the humour forum asked if you would eat pineapple or egg on your pizza, which got me thinking/wondering. What toppings do restaurants in other provinces/states/countries offer on their pizza?

Here’s a typical list of toppings which are available in most pizza joints in Southern Ontario, Canada:

Pepperoni, bacon, salami, ham, ground beef, chicken, Italian sausage
Hot peppers, green peppers, pineapple, mushrooms, tomato slices, sun-dried tomatoes, onion, green or black olives
There’s one restaurant in my area which offers pickled eggs - I’ve never heard of this before as a pizza topping (and I’m a *big* pizza lover.)

In Quebec (the Montreal area) you can often buy tomato pizza at Italian bakeries. It’s usually a large slab of deliciously oily dough with plain tomato sauce, no cheese. Sadly, you can’t find them in Ontario.

What pizza toppings are on offer where you live?

  • Down here in the South, I like barbeque pizza, with barbeque meat and sauce instead of tomato sauce. I have also had hot wing pizza, with the hot sauce instead of the marinara. Both are very good.

  • Yeah we have a lot of pinepapple pizzas. We also have the basic stuff like beef and mushrooms and ham and pepperoni. They have shrimp pizzas too and sometimes chicken pizza.

  • Just the fact you gave us an idea of where you live is interesting in itself Misskatilynn.

Now I know what BBQ pizza is - I've heard of it before but I thought it was a regular pizza that was cooked on a BBQ. Thanks CJ!

That spinach alfredo sounds scrumptious Sharon. I've had frozen spinach pizza (from the grocery store) but not with the alfredo.
