Australia Day, the heat, the cricket and stuff....
So.... Australia Day has been and gone... it was over 40 degrees... thank God we've got a pool! we didn't do the fireworks... there were fireworks all over town...we stayed home, swam... drank..... and listened to the bangs going off all over town. It was a very hot day.... very very hot...we watched the cricket... which lasted all of 4 hours or something stupid like that.... a total white wash... sorry to Tin and Sat... but England ahs got a lot to answerfor at the moment.... its very embarrassing for them. I like the cricket when its a good game... not a complete wipeout... as it has been... Feel very sorry for them at the moment... God only knows what awaits these poor guys when the get home!!
So.. did anyone else hear about the idiot that is the promoter for the Big Day Out...(in Sydney) ThiS is a big national music festival over here....This **** decides to say, that it would probably be a good idea, if no one takes their Aussie flags t the BDO, on Australia Day, in case it provokes racial; violence!!! We are talking about the Australian Flag.... on Australia Day... in Australia...
What is this world coming to people? For goodness' sake..... I think they actually changed the concert so it was the day before....! unbelievable.
We went straight out and bought some Aus Flags, and stuck them around the place, as you do....Even though technically I guess I'm Canadian.. Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!
So Stupid.
Anyway.... the Australia Day long weekend has been great..... BBq's, Alcomohol...Swimming.... Street cricket....over 40 degrees..... it;s all good.
So... on Wednesday, the kids finally go back to school. I so wan;t to say yippeee.... but I so don;t as well. I have enjoyed the last 7 weeks getting up after 9... i've enjoyed not having to make lunches....I've enjoyed lots....endured lots.... and... I will miss my two, trying to kill each other every morning over the foxtel remote control....I'll miss the "what are we doing today mumsie?'s from Wonderboy... I'll miss them eating crap for lunch...arguing over everything that moves....telling me they love me....asking me to jam.... or swim, or if I want my door shut if i'm trying to have a nanna nap.... He'll be 16 this year.. she will be 12 (going on 23) I will be 43 in a week and a bit. WB had some friends over for a swim today, and I reached for my towel. he said to me.. "You;re ok mumsie.... you don;t have to cover up, i'm not embarrassed by you at all..." I guess that;s a good thing.!! I dont want this wonderful stupid kid to grow up at all.... (sorry.... i've had a few drinks, and i'm getting maudlin!!!) We have had a lot of fun over the break....
So.... now Roger Fedora is whooping gonzales's butt, in the mens' final at the Aus open.... the thunder outside is thundering... (as it does...) it's still over 37 degrees....i'm going to finish this blog.... and go jump in the pool!
so take care all..... hope this finds you all well and happy...
Love Kells xxxx

hi kells i also am from WA and the heat is definitely a killer! Glad to hear you bought aussie flags, apperently because of comments about the flag not been used on big day out, which a lot of people did turn up wrapped in flag, caused the most flags ever seen around aus. Good For Us! Your kid comments sound universal lol

Hi Kells, I am from WA too. I have often read your blog but I don't think I've written before. I agree with everything you said about the heat, the flag etc. I am so glad the long weekend is over. We spent most of Friday sweltering at the Minnawarra Park in Armadale waiting for the fireworks, Saturday we went to a big party at a friend's house and Sunday we had a small party at our place for hubby's 50th! All I did for the past four days was cook food for these events and then suffer through them in the heat. Thank goodness we have a pool too or I would have gone mental.

Sounds like you got that pool just in time! I don't think I could move if the weather was over 40.
That flag comment seemed a bit ...idiotic, as you said. Imagine if someone told Americans that maybe they shouldn't display their flags on July 4! Or at any other time for that matter.
Our kids must be returning to school around the same time. I'll admit, I've been counting down the days for a couple of weeks now.
We gave you guys a run for your money in the cricket on Sunday. If it wasn't for that rain delay, I think we may just have beaten you!
Take care.
