He apologized to me today! But I shouldn't be surprised. That's so like him.

I hadn't really talked to him in the morning, and I was going to look for him at lunch but he wasn't there. So then I found him at his locker, getting his stuff (there had been a big assembly and his sister made it into the National Honor Society, so he was going home with her and their parents). I walked up and said, "Leaving?"

He said, "Yeah."

"Tell your sister congratulations for me," I said.

"Oh, sure," he replied. (This is fun, huh?)

And then he suddenly apologized. He said, "Look, I'm really sorry about yesterday. I know I was being a jerk." And I said that there was nothing to apologize for, et cetera, et cetera. And we talked a little, and walked back to the cafeteria together (where his parents were).

Things turned out great, then. He's such a sweet guy. No wonder I like him. And I dunno, but I think he does like me too. Which is all good, but the best part is that that's enough, at least for now. I don't feel the terrible need to have a boyfriend, which is good because I'm so young.

But being friends with him is great, and I love every day of it.
