Doomsday: The Aftermath

Yups. That's how it is.

Here's my score:

Mathematics: 95/100
Science: 95/100
English: 94/100
Hindi: 77/100
Social Science: 83/100

And all of that adds up to just 88.8%.

I was honestly expecting a better score than this. Something around at least 92-93%. I got left out in Hindi and Social Science. I was expecting at least anything above 85 in both of them, but apparently, that's not how it turned out to be. I was also expecting more in English, cuz it was loads better than any other exam. Was expecting above 95 in English. I don't feel any good and I've been really depressed the whole day. Probably I still am, but to think about it again, these marks wouldn't really matter much if I manage to get into a good engineering college.

And on top of it all, my dad is really disappointed. Everyone from my family called and asked about the result, only to hang up the phone in disappointment.

When I checked the result online, it all was over in a jiffy. The result came up, my heart was racing. I saw Maths, Science and English, they were good. Then I saw Hindi and Social Science, and it was like, the whole world came crashing down. It was a huge shock to have scored so less in both these subjects.

Anyway, I've asked for a re-evaluation of the Hindi and Social Science papers, cuz I'm still sure that there has been a mistake somewhere in the evaluation cuz both these papers weren't so bad!! We don't actually get to see the paper after the results are out, but we can ask for a re-evaluation.

Guess I gotta cross my fingers yet again, and pray for something better this time.

Sid

  • Good luck with the re-evalutation, and you might wanted to edit a word out of your blog post.

  • Sid - I am very proud of you. I understand your family considers your scores to be a big deal. They are. However, with all respect to your family, scores do not define the person.

Frankly, I believe your scores to be excellent. If you feel family members are disappointed in you, I am sorry. I wish we could see their scores.

I realized your family puts a great deal into education. However, I believe they do not see the Sid we see in these blogs. Your words have impact. They make me want to read everything you write.

So, all I can say to you is as follows: Always do your best (you do). Always remember that there is more to Sid than just grades and scores (I hope you do).

If people are disappointed, I cannot understand why. For disappointment is not encouragement. If they desire you to do better, well more encouragement would be of benefit.

Again, I am VERY proud of you. You received an 88.8%. Not JUST an 88.8%. Frankly, I would not have done so well in Hindi.

Head up. Be proud. Hang in there. Your family may express their opinions. Please remember, they are only opinions. You are the one who has to take the tests and have the pressure of your family. I wonder if they would have done as well.

    Be proud of you....I am.
