We went and voted for our contract on the 29th of September. After watching a video the union president made, we were able to ask questions and then vote. I asked "What is the companies justification for cutting perks and wages when everyone who watches the news or reads the paper knows the stores are making more money because of the ecoonomy?" expecting an actual answer. Silly me. His reply was "They want your money and this is the reason they give." Should have known better than to expect a good answer from a lawyer, and he called me "sir" for my trouble too. We haven't heard how it went yet but they said if we did call a strike it wouldn't be until the middle of November.

My Rockies made the postseason for the second time in three years! And I managed to talk Dad into going to the last home game of the season where we clinched our playoff spot. He took a half day off work. I'm so glad he did because he's been miserable there lately and I keep telling him things like "Tell them to kiss your %$, you're going fishing". I know, I'm a terrible infuence and he never does but this time he did and we had a great time. The tickets for postseason are an e-mail lottery but we've got at least 4 of us signed up for it so we may (fingers crossed) get some. If not that's okay.

Everyone is doing well. My sister went back to school for a marketing certificate. Work is still the same. We got two buckets of tomatoes and several pumpkins from the garden. It was cold enough to freeze last night so we got as much as we could. I have a lot of firewood which I am steadily using. I finally took my air conditioners out of the windows yesterday and put the plastic up. It's almost time to break out the heavy jacket and gloves, at least at night.
