An Old Friend
Old Friend
I saw an old friend today
We beamed, aglow with surprise
We laughed, at coincidence and fate
We embraced in concert of shared emotions
How ARE you?
Where have you been?
What is so and so up to?
We filled the gaps, like building a footbridge
across a chasm of time
As if yesteryear was but the day before
Love and fond remembrance a precious ember
A single glowing coal, the remains of the
latter evenings fire, standing guard through the night
To rekindle the morning blaze of a new day
I bask in the warmth of the fire afresh
We embraced
We beamed
We shared
I saw an old friend today

That is awesome and beautiful, Bob.
I love the line, "As if yesteryear was but the day before". Isn't that what it is like with a true 'old friend'? Thank you.

Filling the gaps, is like building a footbridge...I love that!
It's nice to see old friends, and talk of other old friends. Where has the time gone?

I love reading these, though I don't always post. Just wanted to know that you have a silent fan. :-)
